Rhetoric 101 isn't just any ordinary class but one of the more unique class that many students take at their first year of college. Mr. Klein especially makes the class what everyone one calls rhetoric an awesome class. Mr. Klein is a well respected professor that takes learning to the next level with his unique way of teaching unlike many other college professors do. His way of teaching makes everyone interact with any topic we talk about in class and makes everything clear and simple. Many students online rate Mr. Klein an excellent professor according to ratemyprofessor. WIth his simplicity of teaching I learned many new things such as showing more sensory information into my essays and using MLA but most importantly how to make writing skills better and more juicy. The ways my highschool teachers explained it was by boring definitions and just went on and about. Not really showing examples and making everyone understand it clearly. Mr. Klein on the other hand taught it in a way where learning was actually fun. By fun I mean interesting, by letting us do an advertisement essay on whatever topic we wanted to go. Since I had rhetoric at 11am which is close to lunchtime, I decided to do my essay on a Subway since it was my favorite food place and put my knowledge that Mr. Klein taught me about ethos, pathos and logos to the test. With our classroom discussions he explained thoroughly and got us involved with a little game quiz on what would be the ethos, pathos and logos on the ads he would play. English 1010 was an amazing class, during the period that the class was going on I was able to develop my communication skills and become aware of the world around me and how individuals operate according to what the society wants from them. The English 1010 class helped in developing a new aspect of reasoning, analyzing and drawing adequate conclusion. Furthermore I was to know the kind of informations I can take in and avoid wrong assumptions. In chapter 6, he used a table to demonstrate the level of deaths. In addition, he included some pictures in order to demonstrate to the readers physically some aspects of his argument. Kathryn Stockett successfully uses rhetorical devices to get the reader to feel and understand the perspectives of the protagonists. Stockett uses pathos, ethos, and logos in her book, since the book about social injustice. The topics in the book range from inequality of the sexes to social classes and racism, Stockett is successful in getting the reader to reflect while reading the book and the themes of the book have a clear presence. We see Stockett use ethos and pathos in the very first chapters when we learn that Hilly doesn't like Minny and Minny doesn't want to say why at first, but the incident with Ms. Holbrook was affecting her chances of getting a job because of the influence Hilly has over this suburban society. In some instances where Stockett uses ethos, pathos is also included in her writing.

In Matthew L, Sanders’ book Becoming a Learner: Realizing the Opportunity of Education he argues that college is meant to develop a person into a greater being not to teach them job skills. To develop Sanders’ claim, learning is more than just retaining facts, he correctly aligns his rhetorical situation and uses elements of generative and persuasive arguments. Thank You for Arguing: What Aristotle, Lincoln, and Homer Simpson Can Teach Us About the Art of Persuasion by Jay Heinrichs is a splendidly woven book that teaches people how to become rhetorical. Heinrichs spent many years working with the art of rhetorical persuasion. Even though he is a husband, father, teacher, and author, he always finds time to perfect his persuasion skills. Heinrichs’s main strategies which he uses constantly throughout the book are his backstories and examples; with that, his best chapter is Chapter nine: Control the Mood, and I believe this book should be used in college as ENGL 1301 study guides to help students get a better idea on the art of persuasion. Jay Heinrichs’s book, Thank You For Arguing, gives several techniques on how to become a more rhetorical and/or persuasive person.
Neil Gaiman is a renowned author, screenwriter, and graphic novelist who delivered a commencement speech titled "Make Good Art" at the University of the Arts in 2012. In his enlightening and illuminating commencement address given at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on May 19, 2018, Jason Reynolds emotionally persuades and informs the graduates at the college through the use of anecdotes and metaphors to show that ignoring the significant problems of the world will not help us fix them. To strengthen his speech, Reynolds uses past personal experiences and the comparison of objects to others to help prove the theme portrayed throughout the speech.

It allows readers to gain a better understanding of the characters. Arthur Miler, the author of The Crucible, highlights the importance of mass hysteria through rhetorical appeals. John Proctor, the tragic hero is a loyal, honest, and kind-hearted individual.
In this passage, Ezekiel Cheever responds to John Proctor’s curiosity about what a needle in a poppet signifies and why his wife Elizabeth is being accused of using witchcraft against Abigail Williams. Cheever’s response explains his knowledge of how Abigail was afflicted, his possession of strong evidence against Elizabeth Proctor as a court official, and both his and the town of Salem’s tendency to turn to superstition to explain mysterious events. As Cheever explains how Abigail was afflicted by the needles from the poppet, he utilizes a simile when he states that Abigail fell to the floor, after being stabbed, “like a struck beast” (74). Cheever says this to emphasize the abruptness and intensity of the situation and how significant it is that there is no visual perception of anyone
The Summer Bridge writing course was not like expected at all. I expected it to be a brief review of what we learned in high school and then we have the posttest. I was wrong in fact; it was not only a review of what we learned in high school but it was also introduction into what college writing classes would be like. This of course surprised me and I did have some difficulty in the beginning of the course, but overtime I became better day by day. Constant writing, proofreading and a little bit of constructive criticism is what I expected from this course.
