It also reveals the characters feelings and emotions. John Proctor uses strong rhetorical appeals throughout the play. John Proctor is loyal, honest, and kind-hearted. Proctor can end Abigail Williams only if he admits to adultery. Proctor does not want to ruin his reputation.
