Throughout the course we mainly constructed rhetorical analysis through assigned readings and projects. In the beginning of the course we started by writing a reading analysis of the articles from the textbook, Norton Field Guide. The readings we had to analyze: “The Fashion Industry...” by Hannah Berry, “Our Declaration” by Danielle Allen, “Just One More Game...” by Sam Anderson and “Well Behaved Women” by Laurel T. Ulrich. Professor Lewis assigned demonstrate rhetorical analysis each one of them by summarizing, rhetorical analysis and response. They can encourage a person into success or they can discourage a person into wanting to prove others wrong. This chapter can help young writers in English class with their papers in many different ways. For instance, Trimble gives examples on what a veteran writer does in order to make their writing interesting. He also gives out techniques on how you can get a reader’s attention or how you can fix your writing to make it readable instead of having nonsense. What makes this difficult for me as a writer is that I write what ever comes to my mind and it will not make sense. Another thing that makes it difficult for me as a writer is that I am not good at getting the readers attention and having him hooked on to my work.

It allows readers to gain a better understanding of the characters. Arthur Miler, the author of The Crucible, highlights the importance of mass hysteria through rhetorical appeals. John Proctor, the tragic hero is a loyal, honest, and kind-hearted individual.
Rhetorical strategies are a variety of parts that make up an essay. The strategies include everything from explaining a process, to structure of writing. Whether the author 's purpose is to entertain, inform, or persuade, ultimately these strategies will strengthen not only the author’s purpose, but also the writing itsef. Typically when authors use these strategies, they are very precise to how they use them, and when deeply analysing a piece of writing, this is very clear. In Bell Hooks’ “Understanding Patriarchy”, she used rhetorical strategies to convey her purpose.
The piece of writing which I felt was unsuccessful for me was the Rhetorical Analysis of an article relating to a topic from our course book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander. This piece of writing was difficult for me to organize my ideas around. The article that I decided to use for my rhetorical analysis highlighted mass incarceration among African American and the effect of civil liberties being are taken away from these individuals. I had a lot of repetition because many of the examples I used demonstrated more than one type of appeal. I found myself repeating what the purpose of the example was and how it demonstrated proper use of ethos, pathos, and logos.
Rhetorical analysis is an investigation into how someone uses his/her critical reading skills to analyze text. The objective of the rhetorical analysis is the study of how the author writes, instead of what the author wrote. At that point, we need to examine the method that the author uses to attain his goal. According to Jonah G. Willihnganz “A rhetorical analysis is an examination of how a text persuades us of its point of view. It focuses on identifying and investigating the way a text communicates, what strategies it employs to connect to an audience, frame an issue, establish its stakes, make a particular claim, support it, and persuade the audience to accept the claim”.
The use of these tactics allow for the the author to convey his purpose and message in such a way that it is not immediately rejected and the thought remains a possibility to be thought
The three modes of persuasion are ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos, pathos, and logos are used by individuals who desire to persuade an audience with a particular argument or claim. Persuasion techniques are often used by political figures, sales people, entrepreneurs, and just about anyone trying to persuade a target audience through emotions, character, and logic. The ad, I Am One, shows how these vehicles of persuasion are presented and used; rhetorical strategies like tone, attitude, and non-rhetorical strategies related, patriotism and history references.
