Richard Evonitz was was born in Columbia on July 29, 1963 and died on June 27, 2002 by taking his own life. Richard was known as a serial killer, kidnapper, and rapist of 3 young girls. When Richard was a young teen, he started drinking and smoking around the ages of 12 and 13 and had the reputation of having a bad temper. As Richard got older, his bad behaviors started to get worse, so his mother suggested that he should join the Navy. He did this for 9 years, and it made him an enjoyable family man who had a great sense of humor. Prior to his serial killing acts, he was involved in previous crimes and situations. After many miles and driving into Sarasota, FL, he stopped his car and committed suicide with a .25 …show more content…

Since he wouldn’t follow their commands, they sent out the K9 and the dog bit him 16 times right before he put the gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. When taking this to trial, this was an issue and was also not an issue. According to one of my sources, the families of the girls both believed that it was a good decision to make and was also not a good decision to make. They thought it was a good thing because they didn’t want to have to look at him or to even hear his voice at a trial. They also thought it was a horrible idea because they wanted answers and why he picked those 3 girls. The only person that thought of it actually being a very good idea of going to trial was Kara Robinson. She wanted to stand in front of him at the trial and to let him know that taking her was the worst decision of his
