Theoretical Framework
In addition to proper relationship building, organizations are entitled therefore to disseminate good quality content. Furthermore, when evaluating and analysing content on social media, it is important to take into consideration the richness they have. Daft and Lengel (1986) presented the Media Richness Theory, which talks about the degree of richness of information brought out in media. Moreover, they propose that the “richness” of a medium depends on its variedness in terms of 1) language variety 2) multiplicity of cues and 3) personalization of the message and 4) immediate feedback (p. 560). During the development stage of this theory, it solely focused on face-to-face communication and e-mail. As the digital age expanded

This will be needed to measure the richness of the content in Bayanihan Youth for Peace’s social media for the purpose of determining the quality of the organization’s social media communication practices, specifically on their Facebook page. Content Analysis is the careful examination and analysis of the data seen in messages, which heavily relies on the scientific method to study different characteristics in a message, such as manifest and latent content (Neuendorf, 2002). Using the concept of latent content, which is interpretations of the content itself, the primary unit of analysis is the wall posts on the Facebook page which consist of text posts (with or without links), photos, videos, as well as likes, shares, and comments which will be analyzed in a span of two weeks. The aforementioned will be considered as the units of analysis for this study, simply because the content to be analyzed will determine the quality of the overall Facebook page, and this will prove whether or not the goals for using social media by the organization is fulfilled. For this method, a coding sheet categorized with themes seen in the content will be made in order for the analysis to be more organized and detailed (Keyton, 2010). The codes in the content analysis were generated based on previous researches (e.g. Bortree & Seltzer, 2009; Waters et al., 2011; Kent & Taylor, 1998). This will help the researchers with regards to what to look for concerning the content in the Facebook page, in order to fully assess its quality and richness. For intercoder reliability, the coding sheet will be completed by three coders who will assess the content and code the items. For assistance, the group will consult and work hand in hand with Ms. Katrin Diokno, Program Director of BYP, with regards to addressing concerns related to access of information in the organization’s Facebook page
In America, Media bias is everywhere, in the United States all the information that an average American received through everyday sources, the news was most likely processed through the media and told through a biased point of view, when the media gets their hands on news if it is important then it probably won’t be talked about or downplayed no matter the source like in the newspaper, radio, television, movies, as well as other outlets that the media uses, the media only seems to share the news that they find interesting, even then the media would most likely have changed the story, in what they say is just tweaked news, what actually happened and what really happened would be two different stories, also the story would be told from one person
By definition, computer-mediated communication (CMC) is communication about or by means of computer technology (Thurlow, Lengel, & Tomic, 2004). The transition of computers from highly specialized technology to personal possessions contributed to the increase in investigations relating to CMC (Thurlow, Lengel, & Tomic, 2004). The study of CMC has been widely applied, allowing for discussions of all forms of human communication via the means of a computer. Some of those disciplines through which CMC has been studied include psychology (Gackenbach & Ellerman, 1998; Kiesler, Siegel, & McGuire, 1984), politics (Dahlberg, 2001; Hacker & van Dijk, 2000), and education (Berge & Collins, 1995; McComb, 1994). In addition, CMC has also been widely studied
McLuhan’s notion of “the medium is the message” has manifested over time and can now be applied to new mediums that were not around, or not popular, in McLuhan’s time. Social media platforms are a new medium that corporations take advantage of to promote their products to a large following of people. Platforms such as Twitter and Instagram are heavily used social medias that are regularly infiltrated with advertisements directed at a certain demographic of consumers. To further advertise products, corporations pay largely-followed users to
However, human interactions throughout time have constantly changed and evolved to suit the way we live. In the modern era, human interactions consist of mainly digital media such as the use of mobile phones, social media and networking sites. Our lives have become so heavily involved with media and technology due to their popularization in the last few decades. We are involved with media and technology to the point that almost all types and levels of interactions happen through means of digital media. Although it is believed
Not only that, technology has shaped social interaction as a whole. Being able to talk to anyone on the Earth is an important milestone and “One of the areas where computers have had the most impact on our lives is how we relate to and communicate with other people” (Stewart). In a world filled with Skype, social media, and email, no longer do people have to leave their house in order to communicate. In fact, according to a study led by John Cacioppo of the University of Chicago 's Department of Psychology, roughly one-third of romantic relations start by meeting online. This goes to show how huge of an impact technology has had on communication.
The rise of social networking has been a hallmark of the early 21st century. In the past decade, sites such as Facebook and Twitter grew to become not only a tool for building personal connections, but also a powerful platform for spreading ideas and broadcasting expressions. Coinciding with this explosion of online social activities, meanwhile, is the public’s growing detachment from traditional corporate media. In a 2017 study, Pew Research Center found that two-thirds of Americans now access news from social media, a significant increase from just one year ago (Shearer). Given the key role Facebook plays in delivering information and shaping the perspective of its users, it is important for the company to develop a cohesive framework that
Ancient forms of human communication include cave drawings, smoke signals, symbols, and carrier pigeons. During the late 1800’s, communication became more advanced with the invention of the typewriter and the telephone. Roughly one hundred years later, a military project resulted in what we know today as the internet. With a little innovation, the internet made social interactions between people easier than ever, although, the convenience may come at a cost. Some theories suggest that heavy reliance on social media for human interaction will weaken communication skills, hinder meaningful social interactions, and negatively impact personal relationships.

Social media cannot be understood without first defining Web 2.0: a term that describes a new way in which end users use the World Wide Web, a place where content is continuously altered by all operators in a sharing and collaborative way (Kaplan and Haenlein). The authors also describe social media as “a group of Internet based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and allow the creation and exchange of user generated content.” Social media has progressed from essentially giving a stage to people to stay in contact with their family and companions. The impact of social networks on youngsters is huge. Social media have increased astonishing overall development and prominence which has prompted to drawing in consideration from assortment of researchers comprehensively. In spite of the fact that with time all eras has come to grasp the progressions social network has realized, teenagers and youthful adults are the most aficionado users of these sites (Taylor).
According to a study by TeamLease, a human resource service company, employees spend more than 32 percent of their time on social media every day. Social Media has now become a major part of the everyday life for a majority of online Indians. Social media is giving rise to new and plenty of platforms to communicate, as well as different styles of communication. Social Media for The Community In this Modern Era, Social Media plays an pivotal role in communicating. If we look according to the expert B.K Lewis, media social is label for digital technology that allows people to interact, providing and sharing the message content. We know that social media is very close to the community. Even it can be said that “human’s can’t lived without social media”.
Media are platforms of mass communication that can be categorized as either new of traditional media, with new media being forms of communication that make use of technologies such as the Internet, and traditional media being more conventional forms of media such as newspapers. Media, primarily new media, is getting more popular and influential, especially in today’s day and age since we are exposed to it a lot more than in the past and also since media is more easily accessible now. The media can shape our behaviours, perceptions and opinions, and it is important to know how people are influenced and impacted by it. The media can influence someone’s perception of social reality, or perceptions of beauty or even influence people’s behaviours and habits and therefore, the media does shape who we are. One way that the media can shape who we are is by influencing our perception of social reality.
Social media is designed to be shared. Sharing means that is easy to comment on and easy to send. Social media is always available and accessible and there is no costs associated with the viewing of media on the particle social media provided. Since the advent of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, there has been much debate on their advantages and disadvantages. While social networking sites are a useful contraption in our increasingly connected world, they can also resentfully affect our development and the nature of our social interactions.
