The article discovers the thesis that, in a poor economic context compare to other occupation rickshaw pulling provides an easy access to the urban informal labor market, which help unskilled, uneducated poor people to come out from the extreme rural poverty. Nonetheless in the long run rickshaw pulling is not a sustainable occupation as a solution of poverty. The article considered a wide range of survey analysis and interviews. It focuses five issues associated with the rickshaw puller such as, rural to urban migration due to extreme poverty; secondly, this occupation helps rural poor people to get rid from the life-threatening poverty. Hedayet Ullah Chowdhury states the rising informal sector including rickshaw-pulling recognized as expanding source of employment in Bangladesh but the government discriminates this small enterprises. The article addresses the importance of the informal sector to increase the overall employment in the country. Developing countries like Bangladesh has excess labor force, while, the raise of the informal sector provides employment for poor and uneducated labor force especially in the rural and urban areas. The author points out the physical changes in the economic conditions in Bangladesh that cause for the demand of informal sector in the country. From the development standpoint, the widespread informal sector has significant contribution in the national economy of the country. The article evaluates how some of the determinants of the informal sector such as the increase of taxation, market regulation, awkward business, corruption, political instability and lack of government policy work as the driving force of the informal sector.
