How often are you persevere? In the book, The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson shows marvelous acts of perseverance. Percy is a teenager, freshman, and attends Yancy Academy. He is diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD, and ADD. Now, many people would feel bad for him, and think that he is very peaked. However, he is blessed to have these conditions. His ADHD and ADD help him stay hyperactive in wherever he is. This book was based on Greek Mythology, and there were many wars at that time. Percy is falsely accused for stealing a lightning bolt, and wants to prove that he didn't.
Percy’s experiences align with the Hero’s Journey because of these three reasons. First, separation happens to Percy for a while. I know this because in the book it says that he has ADHD and dyslexia so that is what makes him separated from the rest of society. Then, the call to adventure happens. I know this because there is a danger that starts them on their journey and the danger is the monsters that come for them. Finally, the entering the unknown happens. I know this because when he goes to camp half-blood there is the constant threat of danger. Also his strength and courage is tested time and time again. In conclusion, percy’s experiences align with the Hero’s
Percy begins to doubt that he is capable of being a hero during the fight between him, Echidna, and Chimera because he feels as if Riptide, his sword, will cause minimal damage, and in this situation he’s not only trying to protect himself. First of all, before going into the elevator his suspicions lowered once Grover reassured him that there were probably no monsters since the smell is similar to that of underground. Once Percy got into the elevator, leaving Annabeth and Grover behind, he didn’t exactly expect the “chihuahua” to be Chimera, or the fat lady to be Echidna. He was baffled and caught in surprise unlike most of the other times where he was with his friends and they could protect each other. No, in this situation it was all on him.
Throughout “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan, the main character Percy Jackson grows in many ways. Through application of Joseph Campbell’s Hero Cycle, Percy’s development as a leader over the course of “The Lightning Thief” can be analyzed (Campbell). Percy is born into the hero’s cycle at his natural birth and his call to adventure is the attack by Mrs. Dodds. Percy crosses the threshold, when he leaves Montauk with his mother and Grover and the first trial testing his leadership is on the bus with the furies. Trials exemplifying Percy’s growth include: the furies, Medusa, the Saint Louis Arch, the “Waterland” Waterpark, the Lotus Hotel, Crusty’s Waterbed Palace, and Hades and the Underworld. Each test prepares Percy for the final battle, his encounter with Ares, where he displays the leadership qualities he has obtained over the course of the novel.
Percy Jackson was told he would not be the hero at the end of this and if he tried to be the hero everyone would end up dead. This is due to the fact that Luke was taken over by Kronos and was being used as a vessel. The only way to kill Kronos would be to give Luke a dagger and make him stab himself while he is able to suppress Kronos and make him stab and kill himself. At first, Percy doesn 't like the fact that he would have to trust Luke to kill himself but he decide to trust him and give him the dagger and Luck did kill himself. But the fact that Kronos did sense the danger and try to take over him and stop him he did nothing and watch as he died.
the film Percy Jackson and the lightning thief directed by Chris Columbus. In this speech I will be talking about the Ordinary world, Meeting the mentor, and the Reward, these are the stage of the hero journey. What is a hero? Every single hero needs at least three traits to be a good hero. A hero needs to be able go on many dangerous adventurers to help others. In The Sea Of Monsters Percy Jackson is a hero because he is brave, smart, and strong, and is willing to put himself at risk to save others.
This modernization is very large because of the change of plot events along with the major twist in the beginning of Percy. Percy Jackson’s story fits under the theme of vengeance/ revenge and good vs evil because Percy fights evil throughout the story in order to save his mom and return home with elixir. Which is fairly different from the story of Perseus although they both have similar base components which makes them similar. This shows how the story of Perseus is modernized in Percy Jackson because the themes are relatable and their actions are also but each character has different ways of attempting to return with elixir while both undertaking a journey. But in the end both undergo their journey and return home with a very similar elixir which involves their mom, a woman, and a new home /
Percy Jackson and the lightning thief is about the offspring of poseidon and a mortal, going on a quest with his friends to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt. The bolt went missing and Percy Jackson is accused of taking it. This is an excellent book that was made into a film. Though the film was good it was very different from the book.
By suffering a physical wound, Percy shows another characteristic of a hero. After playing capture the flag a gigantic hound attacks Percy. Chiron, the activities director, the kills the hound, but not before Percy is seriously injured. “By some miracle, I was still alive. I didn’t want to look underneath the ruins of my shredded armor. My chest felt warm and wet, and I knew I was badly cut.” (Riordan 125) This quote supports the characteristic as Percy’s armor is damaged and his chest is bleeding. As well, the quote states it is a miracle for Percy to be alive. Percy has a remarkable childbirth, which is another heroic characteristic.
"The Sea of Monsters" by Rick Riordan is the second book in the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" arrangement. In this book, Percy Jackson goes up against a mission to spare his dearest Camp Half Blood.

The book, Percy Jackson: The Battle Of The Labyrinth, by Rick Riordan is an amazing book about a group of demigods (half human half god) that have to save their camp from being destroyed by the evil forces of Kronos. Kronos is a titan that the gods banished to the deepest part of the underworld (Tartarus) after a war against them. Now that the titans are rising once again, the protagonists must travel through an ancient Labyrinth to stop them from demolishing their camp and temporarily halt them from achieving their goal of destroying Mount Olympus and the gods.
