The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a story about two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. These two lovers are in two different families, The Capulets(Juliet's family) and The Montagues (Romeo's family).The two families have a deep hatred for each other, and are constantly fighting in the streets. Romeo and Juliet decide to put their families hatred behind them to pursue their love. This decision and many others would ultimately result in their deaths. Many debate on who is truly at fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet.

The playwright “Romeo and Juliet” contains gang affiliations such as gang fights, harsh disputes and problems between the two houses, and to achieve what they desire no matter the cost. “Romeo and Juliet” contains gang fights because there are two houses; the capulets and montagues who always fight when they meet in a public place. Harsh disputes are involved in “Romeo and Juliet” because the families of both sides curse each other every chance they get and show no signs of trying to work together as one. The Capulets and the Montagues will do anything to get what they want, no matter the cost. These items is why “Romeo and Juliet” are connected to gangs and how you can see the similarities.

They start fighting again, which is stopped by the Prince of Verona, Escalus, who sentences to punish public fighting with the death penalty. Romeo appears and he is melancholic about his unhappily infatuation with Rosaline, who does not reciprocate his feelings.

One of the main themes of this play is that love conquers hate. Throughout the play, both Romeo and Juliet face many conflicts in their love. The most long-lasting conflict was the family feud. However l, tge ending of Romeo and Juliet 's lives also shows the ending if the family feud. Shakespeare, the playwright, showed us many instances in which he emphasized how unstoppable this hatred was.

I believe that the rivalry is the antagonist because had the rivalry not been in place Romeo and Juliet they would have been able to marry each other without having to hide the relationship. Juliet would not have been force to marry Paris meaning she wouldn't have to drink the vile, and many other conflicts could have been avoided. “O dear account! My life is in my foe’s debt.

However, her effort to not inform the Capulets about her love nor marriage due to the feud between the two families stimulated tremendous amounts of unnecessary conflicts. Neither Paris nor Lord Capulet know about the hidden marriage as they plan for the wedding on Thursday. In Excerpt Three, Paris states, “ Now , sir, her father counts it dangerous That she do give her sorrow so much sway, And in his wisdom hastes our marriage,” (4.1.9-10).

This can be seen as when conflicts build up and unveil itself in a chain till the death of Romeo and Juliet, this intensifies what Shakespeare depicts the conflict as a means of proving the worth of conflict in the play. Since the play of Romeo and Juliet was set In Verona, during the Renaissance period, it was the rebirth of Art and beauty, showcasing nobility, humility, and dignity.

Romeo is ready to settle down and is looking for love; Juliet, young and naive knows nothing of love until she meets Romeo. The Families of both are well acquainted but not in a polite way, for the two families are at war with each other. This however did not hold back the two young lovers, they secretly got married. But this leads to hardship, one tragic event after another. Romeo and Juliet must fight for what they love, though proven throughout history not to be a true event.
