What are some of the challenges and operational requirements associated with the transition from a corps headquarters to a CFLCC headquarters? Under modularity, division and corps are designed to provide flexible command and control packages for the employment of land forces as part of a joint, and/or multinational and interagency force. Making the transition from G staff to a J staff is a significant problem-solving challenge. The operational requirements associated with the transition must generate an effective CFLCC headquarters that is capable of conducting rapid and thorough analysis, decision making, and product development. Organizing the staff by functional area rather than along traditional staff lines may immediately increase the

Analyzing the mission command principles and the commanding officer’s actions will also be discussed. Specifically, as it relates to building a cohesive team through mutual trust, providing a clear commander’s intent, and accepting prudent risk. While the battle of Fort Riviere and the resulting occupation of Haiti occurred over a century ago, it provides us with an example of American foreign policy during this period and bares resemblance to future American military
Introduction Operation Anaconda was the largest battle in the initial invasion of Afghanistan. The planning of the operation proved to be complex, especially in dealing with multi-unit joint operations. Despite the limited time for planning, limited multi-unit interoperability, and lack of resources, Organizational Management functions played an essential role in the successful execution of Operation Anaconda. Planning and Organizing Joint Special Operations
Multiple factors could have affected each one of the state’s and county’s decisions on whether they succeeded from the union or stayed loyal. The main historical factors under consideration were the number of slaves per white man, the agricultural wealth per white man, the availability of transportation by rail or water, and the percent slave population in respect to total population. While reviewing the data, I found that throughout Georgia and the counties Bibb and Heard, there was a large presence of slaves per white man as well as a large overall population of slaves in each of these regions. There was about three slaves per white man and around a 40% overall slave population. This evidence compelled me to think that these regions would
Word Count: Megan Findakly MGMT- 626: Management Consulting Pract & Meth Professor Fowler 08 December 2016 Case #3 “Divorced from ethics, leadership is reduced to management and politics to mere technique.” James MacGregor Burns After three years at GL Consulting (‘GLC’), Tim Hertach, a junior partner, learned about the “Proposal to Enhance Value,” the new revaluation proposal presented by two other GLC partners. Hertach immediately questioned the new structure, which provides senior partners, who compose 20% of the firm, with 80% ownership of the firm with huge windfalls, and more disconcerting, it leaves the other 80% of partners trying to pay for it.
Through deliberate thought, Congress has staggered the terms of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff so it is not coterminous with the President. Subject to the authority, direction, and control of the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff serves as the spokesman for the commanders of the Combatant Commands, especially on the operational requirements of their commands (Cornell Legal Information Institute). The Chairman confers with and obtains information from the commanders of the Combatant Commands with respect to the requirements of their commands; evaluate and integrate such information; advise and make recommendations to the Secretary of Defense with respect to the requirements of the Combatant Commands, individually and collectively; and communicate, as appropriate, the requirements of the Combatant Commands to other elements of the Department of Defense (Cornell Legal Information Institute). Additionally, the Chairman has a bit of autonomy in the sense that he is the primary military advisor to the president as well as the National Security Council, the Homeland Security Council, and the Secretary of
This move was recommended in order to create the Maneuver Center of Excellence and further consolidate TRADOC commands. Once these recommendations were accepted and the Modern Brigade Combat Team concept was adopted by the Army the personnel assigned to these affected units were coded by the Army to participate in the BRAC moves. These codes were placed on assigned personnel in order to retain training continuity throughout the time of these moves. This complete revamping of the Department of Defense is not a common occurrence and took years to be accepted and implemented. Because of the BRAC move and my assignment as an ARC Instructor/Writer I was relocated to Fort Benning, GA along with the entire 316th Cavalry Brigade.
As planners work at increasingly higher levels of responsibility including at a geographic Combatant Command the last criteria becomes the hardest
In 1972 Morton Halperin lamented the substantially reduced influence of the military given the limited access the Joint Chiefs had to the President and over reliance on the SECDEF. He cited the need to “press upon the Joint Chiefs to transcend service biases and come up with agreed positions based on a unified perspective.” By the early 1980s, there was a growing movement to reform the JCS system, led by the sitting chairman, Gen. David Jones. US military operations in Grenada and Lebanon in 1983 brought the endemic and longstanding operational ineffectiveness driven by service parochialism into relief, and helped drive the impetus for bi-partisan legislative

The Alabama National Guard utilizes a share drive system as one of the two knowledge management systems. In this system, directorates such as personnel, operations, logistics, strategic planning, information management, and budget all have dedicated hard drive space to store data. Additionally, each individual Alabama National Guard unit has organizational folders on the share drive to store unit data. The second system utilized by the Alabama National Guard is a web-based Microsoft SharePoint system which is part of and integrated into the larger nationwide National Guard SharePoint system. This system, as with the share drive system, is organized along similar departmental and unit lines.
