“50 dollars, 50 dollars, 50 dollars...and sold to the man in the jacket.” The auctioneer said. The streets were filled with commotion, the lights shining brightly in the foggy darkness. A man had recently won, in a torn jacket. He had a large beard and long hair. His name was Robert Baker. He had been living on living on the streets, from all he could remember. The only thing he remembered in his past, was being with his family as a kid. All those precious memories that would never come back. He was a man surviving from smuggling and eating scraps. He was drunk from all that whiskey and spent all his money for a ticket on board the Titanic. Robert shoved it back to the man, but he wouldn’t take it back. Robert decided that the ticket was useless …show more content…
The time was 9:30 and he was going to be late! The location was in Belfast, about three miles from where he was. He took all of his belongings, jumped up, and began running. Street signs and shops flashed behind him, the dock came to view. He began to run at full pace, his legs pumping, his chest breathing heavily. He ran onto the wooden platform and handed the man the ticket. The man handed him a brochure, which showed the layout of the Titanic. He looked at the boat ahead of him. Its red and blue textures shined in the morning light. With hundreds of designs of features. He couldn’t hold himself to explore this massive structure. His dusty shoes left dirt and mud behind, as he walked onto the ship’s deck. People crowded around the rails, chairs were aligned on the wooden wall, and games of toss the ring were being played. The Titanic had recently begun sailing, as he stood along the ramp, and overlooked the soaring waters. He explored the rooms and halls. He started at the main hall. With wooden ornate chairs and pillars, a buffet was aligned on the wall, with food that Robert has never seen or touched in his life. He walked out of the main hall and opened the door leading to the staircase. He walked up the stairs and made it to the pool. Robert slowly walked into the pool, his feet toe touched the water, and he slowly walked in. The water covered his body, making him feel a vague feeling of a shower. I swam to each end of …show more content…
There were three white-topped tables, more than the night before. Large and juicy steaks were aligned on the table. Fresh and cold oysters, eggs and cheese, sourdough bread, clam chowder, seasoned vegetables, Maryland chicken(fried chicken), and grilled potatoes were all aligned on the two tables. The last table was aligned with a tray of a variety of different kinds cookies, pastries, and cakes. He grabbed two plates. One for his main course, and one for his deserts. He ate quickly and viciously but enjoying each and everyone one. After his delicious meal, he decided to enjoy the fireworks on the Titanic’s deck. He saw the exploding colors in the night sky, and it reminded him of his childhood. He thought of his father and mother, with him. The date was July 4th, and he and his parents were enjoying the fireworks, on the grass, in Montclair Park. He looked at the ending fireworks and yawned. It appeared that he was tired from how late it was. He sleepily walked down the halls, and into his room. He collapsed onto the bed and drifted off to sleep. Robert was awoken by a loud noise, which appeared to be people frantically screaming. “The Titanic is sinking! Let's hurry to the deck before all the lifeboats are taken.” said an anonymous
“You can do this. Just pick the right time when none of the watchmen will be there, grab the drop money, run back to the Jeep and you’re good. You’ve studied the routine, you know what they do, you can do this,” he thought. Knowing he could very well be killed in the process, images of his wife and son flashed through his mind, but there was no way he could let his son live the way he had. There was at least 2 million dollars in the box, enough to change the fortune of his life tremendously.
He was done with that little town, its sad people, and all the sorrow that had plagued his life. He relished the idea of being free. He could do nothing about the aching pain of how his dad died…in a self imposed sleep from too much of the sleeping salts, and a fallen candle that set off the fire. What was done was done, and he had learned early on to not hang on to things you had no control of, so he rode away from his childhood and toward the life of a
The lights were flashing and the ship was rocking slowly. They saw blood trickling from the elevator shaft. They had no idea what happened. They screamed and called for help… but none came.

“Titanic” Essay “Titanic” by David R Slavitt. Slavitt wrote about a horrible tragedy that happened a while ago to show us a universal truth about humans. “Titanic” shows how regular people strive to be famous to bury down the truth that we all die and can’t escape it. People on the actual Titanic, died but they were remembered for how big it was so “if they sold passage who wouldn 't buy” because no one is really remembered all all around the world. The reason why I realised the theme was how everyone dies and we can’t run away from it was because of the shifts and the attitude of “Titanic”.
When they got back the husband was nervous and shocked at the man's appearance "... he was wearing a full beard!" the stunned husband noticed (89). Robert came in and was as friendly as could be. His appearance was the first thing that the husband noticed.
His feet pounded down onto the blood-stained floor, his stomps ricocheting around the desolate hallway. All around him lights flared and sirens shrieked endlessly, a visual symphony to accompany his impending doom. Shadows encapsulated every part of the room, yet his eyes still darted around, attempting to find any sign of the incoming danger. He sprinted into the confined box of the elevator, the walls around him hugging him close, as if to say he would be safe here. He slammed his hands against the flickering buttons, drops of blood sliding down the metal as he punched it again and again.
“Walter lord brings up during the novel that the reason why most passengers aboard the ship died was due to them not having access to the lifeboats on the Titanic. It mentions, “Especially when everyone realized there weren't enough boats for everyone.” If the Titanic never took this “risk” and experimented with not adding enough lifeboats, we wouldn't know nowadays that boats would need so many lifeboats in case of emergencies. With this, Walter Lord describes the cause and effect of this risk that led to a tragedy. He mentions, “Third officer Pitman…heard the cries…pitman was toned by the dilemma.”
On April 15 the unsinkable ship went down into the North Atlantic Ocean. I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic by Lauren Tarshis is about the tragedy of the Titanic. I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic is about a 10 year old boy named George. Living in New York, George and his sister, Phoebe, went to England with their Aunt Daisy. They sail home on the ship of the Titanic.
The lookout of the ship spotted the iceberg and immediately sounded the alarm and called to notify the crew that there was an iceberg up ahead. They quickly rushed to try and alter the direction of the ship. Sadly, it had been too late to take much action and not even minutes later the ship crashed into the
He though of the best spot to protect himself, and that was the attic. As the house was getting closer and closer to the ground at rocket speed he ran as fast as he can up to the attic. He was in the middle of climbing the ladder to the attic and the house was at about 100 feet in the air. At 50 feet he was almost there. It was a big ladder.
There were 2,240 on board for the voyage. The ship left Ireland and was sailing to New York. On April 14th, the crew received reports of icy water from other ships but they did not see any so they were not concerned. There were also reports of icebergs in the area. The Titanic had a small coal fire when it left one of the docks it was previously
“The girl was running. Running for her life, in the hope of finding a safe haven for her and her family. She never looks back, the only indication her father was still behind her was his ragged breathing above her head, forming puffs of air in this cold morning. She suddenly stumbles on a root, but her mother secures her fall with a small wisp of air. They lock hands, all three of them, and continue pushing themselves, desperately trying to find the others they lost on the way.
These small boats that the Titanic maintained were very well equipped and comfortable, and made only for the upper class. In addition, at times, the upper class urged their power on needing to get saved, and left the other classes jumping onto crowded boats or falling off because they couldn’t associate themselves with the lower strata. In fact, this is also a prime example of commodity fetishism because the boats that were well built for the upper class conveys that the people who built them were most likely from the lower class. It portrays how much work was put into them for the
Children faces are bright red with tears rolling down their cheeks, while some were scream crying. As being an eighth grader, I am not ready for this type of situation. Scared to my core, I am actually thinking that the boat is going to sink and I am going to DIE TODAY. The captain is the only one on the second level of the ship, while most of the passengers are down on the bottom floor hurling everywhere. I finally could not take the sights and sounds of people puking so I closed my eyes and plugged my ears with two pointer fingers for most of the way back.
