Robert E. Lee was born to Col. Henry Lee and Ann Hill Carter. When Lee’s father was beaten up by an angry mob and left to recover his health, Lee’s mother became the head of the family. Lee’s family struggled to make ends meet. However, from the difficult times, Lee took with him self-denial, self-control, and order. Lee’s family could not afford for him to attend a school with tutors. However, from his mother he learned arithmetic and his fundamental language skills: reading, spelling, grammar, and writing. Eventually, Lee attended West Point, a military school. Lee had always had the heart and traits of a perfect gentleman; he was kind, distinguished, humorous, unmistakably disciplined, and was the best leader one could ask for. It was
George Washington Carver,Botanist, Chemist, Scientist, Inventor, was born in Diamond, Missouri, around 1864 during the civil war. The year and date of his birth is unknown. George left the Carver home to further his education. He was admired by the president at the time, Theodore Roosevelt. Carver was a scientific expert that has contributed a lot to today's society.
George Washington Carver was born in Diamond Grove, Missouri in January of 1864. His parents were Mary and Giles Carver, and their master was Moses Carver (the slave took up their owner’s last name.) Giles, George’s father left his mother before he was born, only to leave Mary, his mother, to raise George on her own. However, later on, Mary and George were kidnapped by northern raiders to be sold in Arkansas. George was returned frail, feeble and scrawny infant a year later in 1865 with no sign of his mother.

Richard was tutored at home and then sent to Wakefield Academy in England for his formal education. After graduation, he traveled in Europe, and then returned to Virginia in 1752. After school in England, he was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses and later was a delegate to the Second Continental Congress, where he proposed the colonies should be independent from Great Britain.

Lee was born and raised in Westmoreland County, Virginia, and was the son of Major General Henry Lee III, or the Governor of Virginia. Lee started his military war when he realized and saw himself as an extension of his family’s greatness in war. At age eighteen he got into the West Point Military Academy, where he worked hard and put his mind to work.

He was born in front of a church on December 12, 1805. His father, Abijah Garrison was a merchant sailor that left and abandoned the family when Garrison was only three years old. His mother,Frances Maria Lloyd, became a single mother that struggled to raise Garrison and her other children.

On June 30th, 1831 Lee married Mary Randolph Custis, the great-granddaughter of George and Martha Washington. Together Lee and Mary had seven children, three sons and daughters. Even after getting married and having children Lee stayed devoted to his military duties, while many of his Army loyalties moved him around the country, from Savannah to Baltimore, to New York, Mary stayed with their children on her father’s plantation. Lee finally got the break though he had been waiting for in 1846, when the United States went to war with Mexico. While Lee was serving under General Winfield Scott, Lee proved that he could be a brave battle commander and a very smart tactician.
