Best Practices for rolling out Robotic Process Automation within an organization
Introduction: Robotic Process automation (RPA) is an application of technology that uses a computer software or a “robot” to capture and interpret existing applications for processing a transaction, manipulating data, triggering responses and communicating with other digital systems.
RPA “robots” are revolutionizing the way we think about and administer business processes, IT support processes, workflow processes, remote infrastructure and back-office work. RPA provides dramatic improvements in accuracy and cycle time and increased productivity in transaction processing while it elevates the nature of work by removing people from dull, repetitive tasks.

Organizations have to be very vigilant about how to implement/introduce RPA within the organization as we might face some resistance from the department just for all the natural reasons (similar to what we see in terms of outsourcing). So it is also important on how will RPA be received by a group/department like will there be receptivity, co-operation, collaboration.
One of the important points to consider while assessing a process for RPA is the IT and Security evaluation. We will need to set up a security and compliance governance framework ensuring early identification of any compliance or security related concerns such that the automation process can be tailored to meet all these needs. This is one of the advantages of the RPA that it is very agile and can be modified as per the requirement at hand.
When an organization is in the initial stage of implementing/introducing RPA, it should focus on getting the service for RPA from the third parties, but once an organization is mature enough by implementing RPA in a number of process it can focus on becoming more independent in deployment of RPA for further

have to a part of center of excellence.
Having a governance model and a defined guidelines for assessing the process suitable for RPA will catapult the ability of an organization to implement RPA. Establishing metrics in terms of success is critical and how it is communicated to different business groups along with the management.
Here are some points to consider while implementing RPA across the organization:
a) Maintainability and reuse of software robots: When we create the RPA scripts in such a way that uses the user interface of an application, if the user interface of that application changes, all the script that use the application must change as well. This can make maintenance challenging. For example in the RPA runs over the SAP application and the user interface of SAP gets updated, the scripts used to develop RPA will also need to be updated. Therefore, such scenarios have to be considered while developing an RPA for any
Most directors and managers focus on improving the efficiency of processes with the software currently available, but ignore solutions that require major changes. Developing new applications is expensive and time consuming, so for them, there is no urgency to take the risk if not required. Legacy software has been used since the 1970’s with enhancements, but the overall framework is outdated and future capabilities are limited. I will share my experiences and propose new ideas to improve current procedures from the perspective of a junior analyst. Executives normally view processes from a high level with less detail associated with each process, and may not understand the day to day challenges faced.
FISMA act gives a great importance to risk based rules that helps in defining cost-effective security solutions to the organization. FISMA standard should be executed with the help of senior security officials, chief information security officers and security director who can help to conduct different annual reviews of the organization`s information security program and produce the report in front of management about its findings. The management will use this data in order to identify different security loopholes and apply the proper security measures in order to make the organization security compliant. It`s
Automation causes us to be disengaged from our work, decreases awareness, and gives us a false sense of security. Carr’s method of presenting ethos,
Facilitate the transition of service members (SMs) from the initial treatment phase through recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration back into a military position or into "civilian life" as a veteran Ensure that the CRP or Comprehensive Transition Plan (CTP) is complete and that it meets the RSM 's and he family 's needs and goals Collaborate with the unit commander and case managers to coordinate resources identified in the plan Ensure accessibility to resources and care and minimize delays and gaps in service Provide oversight and assistance, identifying gaps in non-medical services, to address everything from home adaption, transportation, and finances to child care and education Ensure Airmen are connected with the appropriate
Based on FFA, it is recommended that in order to emphasise on a sense of a common group identity among diverse staff, RGO’s policies should be securing their future and making them feel that they are trusted and truly valued. Also, any source of discrimination should be eliminated, for example, the employment contracts should be unified for all, including expatriates to create a sense of fairness (Nishii and Özbilgin, 2007). Also, selection criteria for training and promotion should be equal. More authorisation and autonomy should be allowed to the RGO Medical Director. Also, it will be more appropriate for the leader of RGOMS to be a military-trained physician (Kirby et al., 2011) and to get appropriate leadership training to show more support
This includes: assistance with configuration, operation site assessment, workflow assessment, overseeing training on the application,
1. Policies governing the network insecurities which include Email and communications policy, Remote Access Policy, BYOD Policy and Encryption policy 2. User accounts management through training and assigning of user roles depending on their access levels to information in the organization. 3. Setting up workstations and assigning every user a workstation.
In “Better than Human”, Kelly mentions that it will be a trend for robots to replace humans on most, or even every working position in the near future as a outcome of the development of automaton-related technology. “We need to let robots take over”, Kelly assures, “they will do jobs we have been doing, and do them much better than we can (Kelly 311)”. With his observation of the invention of Baxter, he is persuaded in a great extent that humans will acquire new jobs as their old jobs get replaced by automatons. This newly invented robot surprisingly contains several epochal features, disregarding its extremely low price compared to its predecessors. With its benefits, Baxter can be promoted easily and applied to many industries, decreasing the costs of production and even re-generating the market eventually.
The author's purpose in writing “Robot Invasion” was to represent the effectiveness and relevance of robots in today’s society. The author is able to persuade the reader that robots are beneficial to society by stating statements such as “the robots will be able to unleash a productive boom”. This statement from the author really exemplifies the positive impact that robots have on our everyday lives by making our everyday tasks easier and having robots be the productive
Due to automation and robotics, around five million jobs exist with 300,000 people estimated to already be employed in industrial robotics.
Worth noting is that, IT governance and its mechanisms such as; IT organizational structure, governance committees, approvals and budgeting processes (Weill, 2004) can be found in every enterprise but the only difference is that, enterprises with an effective proactive governance also have in place active IT governance mechanisms which enables their appropriate behavioural patterns to be fitted into the organization’s goals, strategy, values, norms, mission, and culture, to crown it all successful. Therefore from the above description of IT governance one can now easily pin-point the key issues related to an effective IT governance mechanisms, highlighted in Galliers & Leidner chapter 12, (2009, p. 303-4) by Weill, (2004) as explained below:
A world of robots working in factories, markets, schools, companies, and limited amount of work space for humans that’s what is going on. The things we saw in movies and what we were dreaming is all becoming reality. Recently, technology has been improving in a very rapid pace. Technology, such as smart phones, tablets, and television, made our lives easier and more convenient. Now people can click a button and deliver food or items they want anywhere.
Despite this, “Automation offered two major benefits to manufacturers: it promised both to increase output and to reduce labor costs” (130). As seen here, automation improved factory jobs and made the most out of what technological advancement could bring. Previously in technology, automation was not as favored because it simply wasn’t as good or desired as seen by the automation that removes hot coil springs from a coiling machine. This machine was soon replaced because modernization in technology which “offered real benefits to workers” when before, machines were “relatively slow, unsafe, and physically demanding” (131). In other words, automation restructured American economy after World War II and served to be the main tool for manufacturing operations in which was followed by many other industries for fifteen years.
Many jobs have become easier by being replaced by robots. Robot are not just the idea of talking mechanical parts as we see in futuristic movies. There are a variety of different types of robotic machines, great majority of them appear in factories and in science technology work fields. Robots in factories help replace a dangerous parts of a job. However, there have been different perspective with robots replacing jobs.
