The robots can learn how to execute jobs and accomplish jobs better or faster. The two writings show the benefits and the dangers of technology. The technology will help everybody and let them work less. In the future, people can expect their jobs to be stolen away from them. Robots now can perform the same jobs faster.
Aim: The reason I have selected this topic is that nanotechnology is a fast rising technology with massive potential in various fields such as information and communication technology, biology and biotechnology, medicine and medical technology. Focus: I shall be mainly focusing on the use of this technology in medical science. Methodology: Nanotechnology is a technique that basically involves operating and manipulating properties and configurations at the nanoscale level, for example, as tiny as the fractions of the width of a human hair. There are many books that I will use which have information about uses of nanotechnology, these include: MEDICAL NANOTECHNOLOGY AND NANOMEDICIN, NANOTECHNOLOGY AND CANCER AND lastly NANOMEDICINE IN DRUG DELIVERY.
Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION In medical science, imaging technology plays an important role in the diagnosis of the disease . It helps the doctor to see the interior part or portion of the body with ease which results in easy diagnosis i.e. doctor can make effective surgeries which is crucial for the diagnosis of disease and doctor can look inside easily without opening or closing too much part of the body. In the medical imaging there are different kind of alternates through which images are taken and that are and images are taken with the help of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), CT- scanners , X-Ray imaging, Endoscopy etc. We take the advantages of these medical imaging techniques in order to detect the abnormalities and the diseases.
Navigating new technology in surgery – a user’s guide in the 21st century It is self-evident that technology has played a dominant role in shaping our choices and decisions in surgical treatment in the past two decades; however we were not prepared for the geometric rate of its advances. Human society has developed at a fantastic pace propelled by the wonders of scientific and technological developments. Where human need is felt, we collaborate in thought and experiment to bring solutions to the societal table. In the age of information, technology has acquired a life of its own and the human brain extended by the multiplier effect of material sciences, electronics and computing has provided the impetus for independent innovation exemplified
Some advantages of this technique are that there is no radiation involved, it is good at visualizing soft tissue, and that since it can visualize soft tissue so easily it can identify a multitude of different problems. Some disadvantages are that it is time consuming, expensive, and there is extensive training needed to operate it. The last type of imaging technique that will be covered is conventional radiography which can detect foreign bodies and changes or lesions of the skeletal system and is used when the corpse cannot fit into the CT machine. The advantages of this technique are that it is simple, quick, and cost efficient. However, it uses radiation, cannot make three-dimensional reconstructions, has a superimposed image, and it cannot visualize soft tissue
Firstly, they are used for surgery. Many patients see more benefits from robots than humans, including less blood loss, no big scars, and 360 degrees hand rotation. While AI robots used in surgery have these advantages, rate of injuries and deaths increases. Between 2011 and 2012, the rate increased 34 percent, and it is still increasing. Secondly, AI robots are used in military.
In recent years, there is an enormous interest in the discussion about technology in our contemporary world. Technology also known as innovation is becoming an irreplaceable part of current elementary life. One of the developed parts of the present-day technology is robotic technology and its existence in our modern society is an ordinary thing. Robot is a mechanical device programmable by computer that can make complex missions (Oxford Dictionary 2014), which can be useful and at the same time it is a destructive and hazardous machine. Therefore, robots have consumer demand and, of course, use in many different areas like medicine, manufacture and military.
Current Robotics Development One of the most important strategies in the world for today’s society is the use of Robotic Technology. Robotic innovation is advancing quickly into the 21st century. People using robotics have turned into a part of our daily lives and common events, they make people everyday life easier and help in manufacturing more goods. It can be found in homes, workplace, stores, and hospitals and so on. Robots might be superior to people in performing specific tasks.
Developments in medical robotics are improving treatments and advancing healthcare. One type of new technology that has been developed in medicine and reduced the number of deaths in surgery is minimally invasive surgery (MIS) robots. Robots in surgery are surgical devices with remote-controlled robotic arms, which may facilitate the performance of surgical procedures (Barbash and Glied 2010, 701). With MIS robots cardiac surgeons can perform heart surgery through small incisions in the right side of a person’s chest, as an alternative to open heart surgery. Surgeons have a better view of some parts of an ill heart with MIS robots (Mayo clinic 2014).
All these strategies have their own advantages and limitations. Surgery is known to be the most ancient technique for treating cancer. Surgeons like Paget and Bilroth from 1846 reported the tendency of reoccurrence even after surgical removal along with lymph nodes. Emergence of new techniques for effective imaging like sonography, computed tomography (CT scans), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI scans) and positron emission tomography (PET scans) have made the thing easier (9). Now-a-days less invasive surgical techniques are in use for the treatment of cancer due to the advances in field of science like laser have been tried for removal of tumor tissues in case of cervix, larynx, rectum, skin and various other organs (10).
