Sacrifice, care, bravery, courage, etc; but only one of the characters in the novel exhibits all of the above qualities and is a true hero. Some of the heroic characteristics that were present were sacrifice and caring. Darry exhibits sacrifice and care when he gives up a college scholarship in order to take care of his brothers. Ponyboy vouches for his brother’s character stating that Darry “had been a real popular guy in school; he was captain of the football team and he had been voted Boy of the year”, but goes on to lament that at this point in the story he “didn’t have time between jobs to even think about college”(16).
He sticks to his goal of trying to prove that he is the luckiest man alive during the whole speech by giving several examples and explanations from his life. While communicating this point, he is also showing to the audience that there are many things to live for even when some negative things are happening. Overall, the most persuasive appeal used is pathos because it really makes the audience open up and believe what he is saying. Lou Gehrig’s farewell to baseball speech was about much more than just baseball.
I chose the life and career of Peyton Manning as my research paper. Peyton was born on March 24, 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana. His parents are the already football star Archie Manning and his wife Olivia Peyton. So, Peyton was already born with a football in his hand so to speak. He improved his skills as a football player early on by practicing with his brother’s, dad, and childhood friends at an early age.
In the beginning of his seven years with San Francisco 49ers, Owens was drafted in the third round. This was a humble beginning. In his career, he soared to heights of greatness to become the second ranked player in NFL history after accomplishing 15, 934 receiving yards, 1,078 receptions and 153 receiving touchdowns. Further, he has won is a six times Pro bowl selection, five times first team all pro selection and three times NFL receiving touchdown leader. Three touchdowns ahead of Owens, is Randy Moss.
Albert, likewise Chris were strongly devoted to what they were actually doing during the war. In War Horse, there was a strong bond and love between this young brave boy and his horse Joey. Albert was truly devoted to him because Joey was actually his best friend and they could not imagine their life without themselves. No matter how many obstacles they came across, they were still trying to find the way out to see each other. Albert was the only one person that Joey trusted and could be devoted to.
Stacey By:Alanah Bible Courage is when you are brave and do what you think is right no matter what others think or say. In the novel, Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry by Mildred Taylor she uses Stacey Logan. He is a very brave boy who has come up with smart plans so he can stand up for what he believes in and his family. Even though Stacey faced many struggles the main ones were when he came up with the idea to break down the bus, he walked T.J home even though T.J. had been a terrible friend to the Logans, and Stacey stayed and watched what happen when the Wallaces went to the Averys to make sure nothing bad happened to him. Stacey 's actions proved that he was a very brave and smart boy, who loved his family and that he was willing to fight for the land and do whatever he could to help save it even willing to take consequences for it.
First, he was homeless and now he became such a wonderful offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). “I would have dreams all the time about me playing in the NFL. Every day I woke up, I said to myself.. I'm going to work hard.. to get to that next level.” (“Michael Oher
The story of Louis Zamperini is one of my favorites. It is an amazing story about an American hero. The obstacles Louis has faced in his lifetime are unthinkable. He has endured a crazy amount of pain but has never given up.
While Paul continued to fight in the war to protect his fellow comrades in All Quiet on the Western Front, Junger was motivated by pure patriotism to fight for his country in The Storm of Steel. Both young men were patriotic and valued their comrades in each of the novels. Both Remarque and Junger had comradeship and patriotism to help get through the difficulty and stressful times. In All Quiet on the Western Front, Remarque describes many scenes that involve comradeship among the young soldiers.
He is a magnificent influencer and is a role model for everyone who has heard his story. I am blessed that I have learned more about him so I can take note of the strength he used to get through his barriers and were able to conquer them one by one. He was persistent and stayed on the course to his goal and ignored all the hateful things people would throw at him. My biggest barrier used to be how shy I was; but each day, I am growing and growing. After listening to what Jackie Robinson did, I am encouraged to fight harder and conquer
This may not sound promising nowadays, but this was considered unbelievable considering people didn’t run the football as much. This season was definitely in his prime, and this season was considered one of the best in college football history. This spectacular season led him to earning the nickname “The Elmira express”. He earned this nickname by being a train on the football field, and this is basically saying that nobody could stop him. This nickname could only suit the one and only Ernie Davis.
At Florida, he ran for 2947 yards, and 57 touchdowns, one of the most impressive records in the SEC. He also passed for 9285 yards, very impressive for a running quarterback. He won the Heisman trophy, and won two national championships. In the NFL, he was selected in the first round by the Denver Broncos. The Broncos had been struggling without a great quarterback.
He made a record of four Pro Bowl for the Dallas Cowboys, that is like one of the best records. Romo has been in 347 games, and has passed the ball 4,483. His first game was in the Carolina Panthers on October 29, 2006. Tony Romo is the best player of the Dallas Cowboys (a team). When Romo was playing, he was one who helped the Dallas Cowboys win games.
He was a starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. “I was just pleased and hope he continues to be successful. But somewhere along the line, you 've got to achieve a little bit of success to keep it going.” That was a quote from Archie showing that now matter what you always have to try your best in everything you do even if you are successful.
The definition of a great quarterback is someone who has the determination to win, accuracy with a football, and goal oriented with their coach, which are three main components Tom Brady has. Tom Brady has the highest winning percentage out of all of the quarterbacks in the NFL; furthermore, he has the second most wins overall at 194 wins (“Quarterback Win/Loss..”). Brady has almost forty comeback victories and is second overall on forth quarter comebacks (“Tom Brady’s Career..”). A large aspect of winning football games in the NFL is being able to make a crucial play when the game hangs in the balance; this is when Brady truly shines. If the Patriots find themselves behind in the fourth quarter, Brady always gives his team a chance to win; no matter what circumstances come his way, he will always find a way to win the game for his team.
