David Camm is a former state trooper who was accused of taking part in the murder of his wife, and two children in September of 2000. On September 28, 2000 police were called to the home of David and Kim Camm, where they found Jill, and her two children dead in the garage of their home. David Camm told investigators that he returned home to find his wife shot on the garage floor, while his two children were in the backseat of the family car. Camm said he believe his son Bradley was still alive, and attempted to preform CPR. Bradley’s body was found on top of a prison sweatshirt (Mckay, 2002). Englert explained that high velocity blood splatter is blood that has been hit by something at rapid speed. For example, a bullet which was used in the murders of Kim Camm, and her children. According to Englert, the bloodstains on the shirt, socks, and shoe collected from the defendant were a result of high velocity impact spatter. Rod Englert testified that this was an indication that the defendant was “within four feet of the shots when they were fired” (Mckay, 2002). However, the defense argued that the bloodstains found on the items belong to David Camm were merely the results of transfer. The defense explained that blood from the crime scene were transferred to David’s sweatshirt, socks, and sneakers when he encountered his family upon discovering their bodies. The state did agree with the defense in saying that some of the bloodstains found of the items belonging to David Camm were a result of transfer, however, some were the result of spatter. After hearing testimony from both the States and the defense expert witnesses, the jury deliberated for three days, and eventually found Camm guilty of murdering his family. Charles Boney had been sentenced to 225 in 2006 for the actual murder of Kim, Jill and Bradley Camm. Boney maintained his innocence saying he was at the crime scene, delivering an illegal gun to Camm but did not pull the trigger. Boney claims in the mist of delivering the illegal gun to David’s home, his wife and two children came home. Boney says that David and Kim got into a heated argument, and then he heard gunshot. Charles always stated that David Camm tried to kill him as well but the gun misfired. However, Boney fingerprint and DNA was found all over the garbage, and even in Kim’s underwear. The overwhelming evidence against Boney, and the lack of argument between blood spatter analysts ultimately lead to David Camm’s conviction being overturned on his third appeal (Eisenmenger,
