"The Monsters are Due on Maple Street," by Rod Serling can be viewed in several different formats. We chose to view the teleplay and the short TV episode. In the teleplay and TV episode of this story, there are many similarities and differences including the character appearances, tone, and the theme. To start, the character appearances in both the teleplay and episode are different. In the teleplay, Tommy, a 14 year old boy is seen with glasses and is seen as an immature and innocent kid. However, in the episode, Tommy is more mature, and fits in with the adults. Another difference in the appearances is Pete Van Horne. Horne is described in the teleplay as a tall and thin man.
