KABIR : THE APOSTLE OF TRUTH

The period of 800-1700 is Known as Bhakti movement in India . During the 14-17th centuries, the Bhakti movement swept through Central and Northern India.Bhakti Movement in India had been significantly influenced by Kabirdas. His approach to devotion is practical . He strongly opposed dogmas of Hinduism and Islam and preached that there is One God who lives in every heart. Kabir believed in the concepts of Karma and reincarnation of the Hindus and the concept of One God who lives in every Heart. Kabir believed in the concept of One God of the Islam. He neglected caste system prevailed in medieval India of his time and di not believe in idolatry. He saw the social upheaval of his time very closely and played a vital role in harmonizing Hinduism and Islam and tried to establish universal brotherhood. Sikhism is extensively influenced by the doctrines of Kabir, so some critics believe him as a forerunner of Sikhism . His couplets (dohas) are heard in every Gurudwara . He believed in Nirguna Bhakti which is also known as Kabir Panth. Kabir’s personality is an amalgamation of so many virtues. He was really a great thinker, a profound philosopher, a good preceptor, a great teacher, a radical reformer and what not. Although he was not schooled d or tutored like other geniuses but whatever he uttered or spoke, they turned out to be an unceasing voice of the world.
