Introduction Migration is a universal phenomenon. Regional disparities play key role in movement of the population from one place to another. People migrate in search of better livelihood, opportunity, access to better resources and so on. It is an important source of livelihood strategy for poor groups across the world.it plays a significant role in moulding the social, economic and other structural characteristics of the population of the country or the region (Khan 2010; White & Woods 1980). It is the highest plateau of the Kashmir with much of it being over 3000m (9,800 ft). The economy of Ladakh rests on three pillars: the Indian Army, tourism, and civilian government in the form of jobs and extensive subsidies. Agriculture, the mainstay only one generation ago, is no longer a major portion of the economy, although most families still own and work their land. Crime- development and crime goes hand in hand. With the development in the area, the crime is bound to happen. Ladakhi society known for its cultural values and generous people started losing its rich value. There was a time, when leh was the only district reported zero percent crime rate. Now crime has become a common thing in the society. Crimes like dacoit, murder, burglary, robbery and cheating are on rise. Changes in the labour market-because of the huge supply of migrant labour the shortage of local labour is less realized.
