Without religion it would have been very difficult for humans to lead a controlled life. Religion not only guides us but also gives us strength and courage to tackle various tough situations in our life. Religion has various roles to play in our lives; some of these are as follows Religion is a source of Peace Every religion whether Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism promotes peace among people and nations. No religion ever preaches violence and bloodshed. It is humans’ lack of interpretation that leads to violence and bloodshed in the world. Any person who follows a religion also follows its teachings of solidarity. Solidarity is very important for a stable society. If there is solidarity and brotherhood among people than a society can deal with any situation and problem with dignity. Bible says: Galatians 3:28 – “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” In Zoroastrianism it is said: “Doing well to others is not a duty. It is a joy, for it increases your own health and happiness.” Religion Promotes Economic Welfare Religion builds a very strong basis for a just economic system in a society. The concept of charity is common in all the religions. Every religion preaches to share your wealth and virtues with the poor and destitute. So when the rich take out a share of their wealth to help the poor and the needy than a just economic system is established. The wealth in this way does not accumulate with the rich but is also circulated among the poor.
