In the novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, Stacey’s perspective of friendship with T.J. and Jeremy is unique and this affects the decisions he makes in Chapter 7. Stacey allows T.J. to do almost anything around him, even though T.J. is rude and naughty. But, T.J. is still Stacey’s best friend. Stacey is pretty rude to Jeremy even though Jeremy is super nice to the Logans and T.J.’s family. Stacey’s friendship with these two boys are very different.
Have you imagined how the post-apocalyptic world will look like and will you choose try hard to survive or to die? In the book, The Road, written by McCarthy, the sky is dark. It’s cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. Everything has gone, only except some human beings who try every way to survive even by hurting and killing people. It seems that there is no reason to keep surviving in a world which no hopes remain, a father still perseveres to survive with his son and they are sustained by their love. On their journey, the father sacrifices a lot to protect his son and strongly shows his parental love.
There are many theories how a man found in the alps covered in ice died. Later this man was named Ötzi or the iceman. When Ötzi was found he had many tools /weapons with him. He had a copper axe, threaded mushrooms, a fanny pack with multiple items in it, and and much more. His items were spared away from him and later on when scientist examined him, his skin was like a mummy. There were special tattoos on his body. There was a hole in the back of his head, and there was pollen in his stomach. Since Otzi had many I teams with him and things on his body there are many different theories and scenarios on how he could have died
It affects how someone feels about things, how their mind works and how they operate in their lives. O’Brien gives a personal example of this change taking place after he becomes a soldier living and fighting in Vietnam. He still does not quite understand why the US became involved with the war in the first place, but he develops a new outlook of it. He is not fighting for whatever reason that the country was giving to civilians, he was fighting for his brothers (fellow soldiers). All of the soldiers want to be there, not for the purpose of fighting people he had never seen in his life before, but to fight with the men that he bonded with and grown to know and love.
When that occurred to her, she was at the Mercantile and Lillian Jean bumped into her, then Lillian Jean blamed her as a result of that, Lillian Jeanś Dad pushed Cassie down on the ground and Big Ma had to stop her from retaliating. Cassie realized that Big Ma was trying to help her not get hurt by Lillian Jeanś Dad. ¨When I pinned Lillian Jean securely beneath me,... I demanded an apology for all the names she had called me, and for the incident in Strawberry.¨ (Taylor, 181) This is why I think that Cassie Logan was the most courageous person in the book, Roll of Thunder Hear
It may affect people in thinking that everything bad happens to them and life isn’t fair with them. On the other hand, I think that’s not correct. I think it helps them get more motivated to know that they can overcome any obstacle they want whenever they feel like it. Just how people say it may cause them to fear having those obstacles it also motivates them to get better and overcome them.
Putting yourself in danger to save others takes a huge amount of courage. This is called sacrifice. In the book Peak, by Roland Smith, every character experiences different types of sacrifice, whether they are endangering themselves, their reputation or other people. From Peak sacrificing himself so that Sun-jo would be safe, to Josh sacrificing his job for Peaks safety, and the Sherpas and porters sacrificing their jobs so that Zopa would be set free. Every character has a choice in this book and it’s up to them if they want to risk losing everything they have, including their lives. In the book Peak, it gives great examples of arduous challenges and characters showing many acts of bravery by sacrificing themselves, their reputation, or their
The idea that hardships may bring out of someone something they did not know they had within them is something that many people believe. American culture is one that admires resolve in the face of hardship as we believe that is when someone shines that most. However adversity does not always bring out something that was not being shown before but rather gives a new direction to talents that someone already has. Adversity may push some to recognize talents they did not they had, like for example taking an advance class in a subject they did not like but finding they are talented in understanding the subject.
Courage can be found where it is least expected. In her book, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, Mildred Taylor uses Cassie as an example courage. Courage is the ability to do something, even though you are frightened of doing it, which Cassie shows a lot throughout the book. Cassie is a little girl, who is very smart, sassy, and courageous. She stands up for what she believes and helps others that need a voice. Cassie showed courage when she stood up to Mr. Barnett, tried to help Little Man by explaining his actions, and helping T.J. when he betrayed their family. She has shown that is very courageous and outspoken girl by standing up for things that she believed, even if she knew what was going to happen to her for her speaking out. Also, she helps others if they do not deserve it or if they are in real trouble.
In the book roll of thunder hear me cry on page 129 it mama says “Baby, we have no choice of what color we’re born or who our parents are or whether we’re rich or poor. What we do have is some choice over what we make of our lives once we’re here.” this means that we cannot chose what we look like or what are family do because you cannot change your genes or dna but you can make the most out of your life also your family may not be rich but with a lot of effort you could make yourself rich. For example if you were a african american servant for a terrible owner you could make still do your best work a maybe escape to live a healthy life. So weather you come from a poor and black family you can still change and become whatever you want to be,
They still believed that maybe one day they would be set free. The compassion that everyone radiated became the base, and the anchor of their hope. So even in the midst of hardship, compassion gave them a purpose to hope. This historical event changed, and still continues to change lives everyday. It shows that if you keep your belief in your morals and ideals nothing can change you.
This topic that i have shown to you shows you what war is like how violent, how depressing and scary it is. Fallen Angels gives us the depiction war and why it is mostly romanized. If you were a soldier going into war blindly and you had no idea what was going on then after being there for three months and someone ask what's happening you wouldn't want to tell the. You wouldn't want to tell them that you shot a man in the face so much that there was no longer a face just a red mesh of blood and skin everywhere, you wouldn't want to tell them your thoughts and how your friend was blown away three feet from you it's easier to just tell them daily things.
The German philosopher Nietzsche once said, “That which does not kill us, make us stronger”, and in many instances this is exactly the case. In most every instance of tragedy or hardship, the people affected must either yield to or rise above their situation, and in rising above, develop or display extraordinary and exemplary traits uniquely fitted to dealing with that situation. As a result, without adversity, these talents would be left unused. There are instances in which people crack under the pressure or sink to the expectations of their situation, but, depending on the character of the person involved, they may take the situation and use it to better themselves. It is a unique opportunity to utilize or develop traits that often remain
Hardship is an endeavor no person yearns for, and logically it’s fathomable why we’d steer away from difficulties. However, one can only value what they have when they’ve survived the unimaginable, because without hardships we’d be oblivious to the triumphs in life. History is an abyss of unfortunate events, nevertheless we have conquered every setback. The civil war, for example, was one of the United States most traumatic times. Much can be said about the bloodiest four years in american history, but overall in order to find harmony between the divided sides, we had to fight battle by battle for a cause that, with all the gruesome sacrifices no longer seemed worth it.
“What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” - Friedrich Nietzsche. Is that true? Does adversity really change people for the better? Going through tough situations can give individuals a new kind of strength, emotional strength, which lends them a chance to grow and mature.
