“My love is thine to teach. Teach it but how, and thou shalt see how apt it is to learn. Any hard lesson that may do thee good” (Much Ado About Nothing 1.1.250-253). Romeo and Juliet share a deep romantic passion for each other but have a small problem. Both come from royal families that have deep antagonism toward each other. Friar Lawrence, a cleric, and Juliet's nurse, helps to mentor Romeo and Juliet in faulty ways through the relationship they so desperately want to have. When Romeo visited the Friar, one of the first faulty statements that was given to him was to get married: “But come, young waverer, come, go with me.
In one respect I'll thy assistant be, For this alliance may so happy prove, To turn your households rancor to pure love” (Romeo and Juliet

The Friar is trying to convince Romeo of the outcome of marrying Juliet. He shares that if they marry, peace will fall upon the two households, stopping the many years of constant turmoil. As you can see, that was one of the first faulty pieces of advice that was given to Romeo. Another example of lousy mentoring comes from the nurse when Juliet got yelled at by the Capulate for not wanting to marry Paris which was planned by the Capulate. “I think it best you married with the County O, he's a lovely gentleman! Romeo's a dish-clout to him. An eagle, madam, Hath not so green, so quick, so fair an eye As Paris hath. Beshrew my very heart, I think you are happy in this second match, For it excels your first” (Romeo and Juliet 3.5.218-224). The Nurse urges her to go through with the marriage with Paris because Romeo is banished and Paris is a better match than Romeo. Now Juliet is sickened by the Nurse's idea and goes to the
Friar Lawrence was a man who did not think before he acted, he was disregardful. He never thought through the idea of two people that barely new each other should get married in secret. The friar married Romeo and Juliet, “for this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households’ rancor to pure love. ”(2,3,91-92).
In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is to blame for the death of Romeo Montague. Friar shows a lack of wisdom when it comes to giving advice to Romeo on his wish to marry Juliet. He knows that Romeo was previously in love with Rosaline and, within one day, he has fallen in love with another girl. Instead of telling Romeo he needs to take time to get to know Juliet, Friar agrees to marry them that day.
Firstly, he willingly agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet despite their families' feuding and them still being young. Secondly, he agrees to marry Juliet and Paris, complicating the situation and worsening conflicts. Finally, he suggests the misguided plan of faking Juliet's death, which results in a miscommunication and Romeo's tragic decision to end his life. Friar Lawrence bears significant responsibility for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet due to his irresponsible and ill-advised decisions. Their story serves as a reminder of how misguided actions and decisions can have a profound impact, underscoring the importance of thoughtfulness and wisdom when faced with complex
Romeo and Juliet trust Friar Laurence and trust his guidance. Instead of secretly marrying them, he should have made them face their families and profess their love. “But come, young waverer, come, go with me. In one respect I'll thy assistant be, For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households' rancor to pure love (2.3.96-99).” Friar Laurence believes, based on the quote, that the bond between Romeo and Juliet will cure the feud between the two households.
Friar Laurence spoke,“ Juliet I am so sorry, but the plan did not go accordingly.” Juliet replied,“Friar how could this happen, you wicked man. I love him and now I have no hope to be with him, this is all your fault, Friar. I do not want to live without him as I know he did not want to live without me.” Friar was stunned,“I will not put up with this I told you it was a risk and you went the plan as I did, but I will not stand here and listen to you bicker.”
After falling in love with Juliet, Romeo visits Friar Lawrence, to tell him about how much he loves her. Friar Lawrence questions him thinking he is talking about Rosaline; he is mistaken. Romeo then asks the Friar for help by marrying them. Friar is amazed at how fast he switched from Rosaline to Juliet, but after hearing his request he accepts by saying, “In one respect I’ll thy assistant be, / for this alliance may so happy prove / to turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (2.3.97-99). The quote illustrates how enabling Friar Lawrence is by showing his willingness to participate in a significant event that has not been given enough thought.
Friar Laurence decided to marry Romeo and Juliet without planning for all possibilities. Friar never planned for all possibilities in both occasions, which had caused all the problems and the death of Romeo and Juliet. When Friar Laurence set up the plan with Juliet he tells her, "Hold; get you gone, be strong and prosperous in this resolve: I'll send a friar with speed To Mantua, with my letters to thy lord. IV i, 37-40" Friar gives Juliet confidence to Juliet before she decides to drink the potion. Friar Laurence did lots for Romeo and Juliet but also caused them harm.
Friar Lawrence provides misguided advice as a mentor, initiating the demise of Romeo and Juliet by encouraging their marriage. Romeo is sorrowful following his change of heart with Rosaline, which causes Friar to question Romeo and Juliet’s marriage due to his quick shift in relationships, but he encourages it anyways. This causes Friar Lawrence to think, “Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here! / Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear, / So soon forsaken?” (II.iii.65-67).
The first reason Friar Lawrence is at fault is because he married Romeo and Juliet when they were still remarkably young and neglected to tell anybody. When Romeo first asks Friar Lawrence to marry him and Juliet, the Friar warns him against it. He says, “These violent delights have violent ends/ And in their triumph die… Therefore love moderately."
This quote shows how the friar quickly thinks of a solution to Juliet’s problem. The friar is knowledgeable about this potion that will help Juliet not marry Paris. Finally, Fair Lawrence is also caring about Romeo and Juliet’s relationship. For example, when Romeo is banished, the friar tries to send him a message.
Friar Lawrence tries to advise against Romeo and Juliet’s fast-moving relationship. Even after his advice the Friar still decides to marry Romeo and Juliet. This decision to marry them after knowing how dangerous their relationship would be is one of the main reasons the Friar is to
Friar Lawrence didn’t want to marry Romeo and Juliet, he knew they were rushing the marriage, but he married them anyway to try and stop the feud between the Capulets and Montagues. Romeo and Juliet rushed into their marriage and because of that there were many consequences after. One consequence is when Friar
While he had good intentions, his plans were not executed fully. Friar Laurence was the one of the first people Romeo would go to when expressing his problems. Romeo informed him about Juliet, and the friar told him he was moving too quickly and “violent delights have violent ends” (II,6,9). Friar Laurence advised him to “love moderately” (II,6,14-15) Even after that crucial advice, the friar agreed to marry them with the desire to bring the two families together and end the feud. The marriage was yet another secret Romeo and Juliet kept leading to their demise.
But come, young waverer, come go with me. In one respect I’ll thy assistant be; For this alliance may so happily prove To turn your households’ rancor to pure love. ”Friar Lawrence is talking to Romeo about him and Juliet getting married. This quote shows that friar Lawrence wanted Romeo and Juliet to get married. He also wanted them to get married because he thought it would cause a feud.
Even the Nurse who previously encouraged the romance between Juliet and Romeo, changes her mind and says she should marry Paris. Juliet's rebellion has serious repercussions which leads her to commit suicde over her
