Simmons picked up the gifts and then drove home to wait out the weekend. On Monday, December 28th, 1987 Simmons drove to Walmart in a car that had once belonged to his son, so that he could purchase a second gun. After he purchased the second gun he proceeded in killing his old coworkers, bosses, and acquaintances, or whom he referred to as “everyone who wanted to hurt me”, he then turned himself over to the Russellville police after they arrived. Simmons was then sent to the “Arkansas State Hospital” in Little Rock where he was given a competency evaluation by the staff psychiatrist Dr. Irving Kuo. Kuo stated that Simmons was sane and capable of standing trial.

Soon after, as a form of rebellion, Jones told his people to gather around and commit what he called a “Revolutionary Act”(Moore 5). To clarify, later the next day,” Jim Jones, age forty-seven, was found dead from a single bullet wound to the head, most likely self-inflicted”(Jonestown 2). Jim Jones committed suicide after also leading nine-hundred plus people into the same dead end including Congressman Ryan, displaying beatings, and suicide drills. Out of fear of the consequences of his actions Jim Jones was held responsible for the mass murder and suicide his followers at The People’s Temple in Jonestown,Guyana on November 18,
For the Application of the Criminal Justice System project of the Criminal Justice course, I chose the arrest of John Burke. This case is about the arrest and sentencing of John Burke who had shot and killed Joseph Ronan. Twenty-five year old John Burke agreed to meet with 22 year old Joseph Ronan at Ronans home, in Reading, Massachusetts on Monday, August 15, 2011 around 1pm, with the intent of purchasing Percocet pills. (Boston.com, 2013) However, shortly after entering Ronans home, Burke opened fire (News, 2011), and after shooting Joseph Ronan several times, with the belief that Ronan was involved in a robbery at Burkes apartment in April 2011 (Boston.com, 2013), fled the home.
Over the several days of the trials, the prosecution put forward 72 witnesses. The first set of witnesses suggested that Simpson had the motive and the opportunity to kill. The second set suggested that Simpson had in fact used his opportunity to kill his ex-wife and Ronald Goldman. The first group of witness included relatives and friends of Nicole, friend of OJ and a 9-1-1 dispatcher, all produced to demonstrate Simpsons motive and his history of domestic abuse. After being attacked one by one, the group must try and escape the crazed chainsaw wielding, skin mask wearing, Leatherface. The real “chainsaw wielding, skin mask wearing” murderer was Ed Gein. Ed Gein murdered several women after his mother died of a stroke.

In a murder case where an 18-year-old, Sarah Johnson was sentenced to life in prison for committing a first degree murder for both her and dad. The case reopened when a retired crime lab technician Michael Howard “testified that whoever shot Diane and Alan Johnson at close range on September 2, 2003, would have been hit by a "rain" of blood spatter” (http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/03/03/johnson/index.html?eref=sitesearch). Howard came up with his theories proving that, Sarah was not even close in committing those murders and it is a wrongful conviction. Based on blood spatter, Howard disclosed that the shooting which took place was at a very close range and blood would have been all over the assailant, where as there was no blood pattern found on Sarah’s clothes. In fact, the pajama pant, Sarah was wearing on the day of shooting had no trace of her parent’s DNA or blood.
