Ronald Regan Ronald Regan was the 40th president of the United States. Ronald Regan also served as the 33rd governor of California in 1967-1975. This was before his presidency. Ronald Regan was born in Illinois and graduated from eureka college. He later moved to California which is when he became an actor in Hollywood. Ronald was originally a member of the Democratic Party but he switched because of shifting platforms in 1950. He then switched to the Republican Party in 1962. Ronald Reagan essentially tore down the soviet empire which basically ended the Cold war. Reaganomics was also a big accomplishment during his presidency. This was an economic plan; it included tax cuts, deregulation, and domestic spending restraint. All of this helped the economic situation which essentially lasted two decades! During this economic plan over 16 million new jobs were created throughout the country. Also during Carters presidency the military was being destroyed and disappearing. Ronald Reagan has a peace through strength philosophy. In this philosophy he wanted to bring back the B-1 bomber. The B-1 bomber project was canceled by the previous president, Carter. Along with the B-1 bomber coming back, the production of the MX missile was started. Ronald Reagan was pushing to send missiles into West Germany. These missiles would help with the defeat of Germany and stopping of the threats towards the United States. Ronald Reagan also increased the defense of the United States by forty percent. Ronald Reagan helped bring positive thoughts throughout the population. Ronald Reagan also had a new defensive system. The system was using new technology. The system was used in the Gulf War. It would eliminate the threat of ballistic missiles. Ronald Reagan also would cut nuclear weapons or limit the amount countries had. He also had a treaty called the strategic arms reduction treaty. This would limit the amount of nuclear weapons in both countries. Ronald Reagan also gave notice to values that would be good for America. These being thrift, patriotism, and hard work. Ronald Reagan would also recite the founding fathers which would calm the people. He would also promote family-values movements. These movements would go against the societal upheavals during the 1960’s. Ronald Reagan also had a tax reform. Ronald Reagan would cute tax rates and he created the created the Tax Reform Act of 1986. This Tax Reform Act lowered the top tax rate from 50% to 28% and raised the bottom tax rate from 11% to 15%. Most people like to discredit him for what he has done however when the chips fell into play he delivered and carried out the actions like a true president. A couple of Presidents have achieved more than Ronald Reagan, the greatest President from the time of WW II. The success of his foreign policy accounts for his altitudinous ranking, particularly the vital role he played in defeating the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. The freedom for Afghanis was not the only achievement but also the fall of an evil, totalitarian mindset of the Russians. Reagan's policies were not only confined to the demise of the Soviet Union but also the expansion of democracy around the world. His economic policies, which laid their foundation on low taxes, free markets and minimal government intervention in private sector paved the road to America's military preponderance.

He was also able to put an end to inflation with supply-side economics. And he was able to lower income taxes for all, especially for those in the higher bracket.

The way he handled this situation actually made him seem like a stronger leader and his popularity sky-rocketed even more. He then went on to pledge four promises, all of which his administration was able to accomplish.
