“Each person must live their life as a model for others” (Rosa Parks). Rosa Louise Parks greatly contributed to the civil rights movement due to her courageous actions. Parks always believed that African Americans were never treated the same as whites. Rosa realized at a young age that African Americans were deprived of many their rights and wanted to do something about it. She volunteered in many anti-segregation organizations and did whatever she could to fulfill their purpose. No matter how it was done, Rosa’s goal was to end segregation between all races. Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1913. She was born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama with her parents Leona Edwards and James McCauley, and her younger brother Sylvester McCauley. In the 1950s, there were many laws that deprived African Americans of their rights and citizenship. Rosa did not break this law out of straight defiance. She did this to prove that all people should be treated the same, regardless of their race or gender. Even though she was not the first person to do this, her actions sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Rosa Parks is known as “the mother of the civil rights movement” and clearly deserves this title. Even though racism still exists in society today, people like Rosa Parks has helped reduce it from what it was in the past century. Parks was brave enough to stand against the law and stand for what she believed to be right. She was not worried about what her consequence would be because she cared more about making the future a more comfortable place for African Americans. I believe that Rosa Parks is the most influential person in history because of her determination and courage. One brave thing that she did started an enormous movement. Without people like Rosa Parks, America would still be a dangerous and uncomfortable place for African Americans to live. What Rosa Parks did impacted the country greatly and will be remembered for a long time. She has paved the way for other people to make a positive difference in the world, causing it to become a better place for
