Today I’m going to talk about courage. When people encourage you that gives you a lot of courage. Courage basically means to do something you’ve never done. First of all, Rosa Parks had a lot of courage, people cheered her on. Rosa parks encouraged a lot of african americans to do things “Her actions inspired other african americans to rally for equality.” When you have courage you don’t only do it for yourself , you also do it for other people like your friends and family. Second, she had courage for herself. She had courage for herself because she didn’t want to stand and she just wanted to stand up for herself. The americans treated them badly and she was tired of it and decided she didn’t want to be treated like that anymore. Rosa
Courage is being brave and taking the risk of doing something. In the book Witness by Karen Hesse many citizens did not like African-Americans , Jews and Catholics. Leonora Sutter, a character in the book, is a 12-year-old who is African-American and everyday deals with many citizens not liking her because the color of her skin. Courage comes in many ways and Leonora keeping her head high and not paying attention to it is an example. There are many racist people in the town like the KKK.
I shortened it because I am too lazy. Maria Teresa shows her courage by helping her sister and other revolutionaries by giving the OAS committee a note with the things that have been happening at their prison even though she can get killed for it. In the quote, you can see that her courage has given her the courage to arrogant about how harshly the government might treat them if they found out about the note. I could only find one example from the book and I forget the page number
This is just one of the times that she showed courage in the
All Sarah ’s life she was taught that slaves are not equal to whites, but she still fought for them. She stood up to anyone that was against her even her family. Sarah went out way of her and sacrificed things to save others. Throughout the novel courage helps the characters get through difficult situations.
What makes someone a hero? Heroes are people that do something to make the world better. Heroes help people when they are in need. Rosa Parks was a person who helped those in need and did something to make the world a better place. Rosa Parks is a hero because she stood up for herself, she stood up for others, and made the world a more peaceful place.
Overall, we all have courage, whether we have a large or little amount, we can use it to positively benefit others and
“You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor” said Aristotle. Courage is an act of bravery one does that is frightening yet they still persevere. Courage is found in many different situations in the modern world like in members of our military, law enforcement, and many others ordinary people performing courageous acts to help better our society. Everyone wants to have courage since whether in music, Hollywood movies, fairytales, or books we are told courage is one of the most important attributes that can turn an ordinary person into a hero.
When Rosa Parks got an arrest, it had started a resolution. When Rosa didn't get up from her seat for a white man, the driver called the police and arrested her. So at her court date, the African Americans had started a boycott. The Africans have to seat in the back of the bus in the colored section. Because Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man; she started a revolution and the fight for equal rights for black people.
Breaking The Chains Of Conformity With Courage Courage is similar to being the ripened fruit on a barren tree, it gives life and color to a dull exterior. The courage that others display gives our nation determination for another day. Courage is the ability to prevail through hardships, to reveal your true inner nature, and to stand up for what you believe, when the rest of the world falls as a slave to conformity. Hardships are lurking around every corner of our life ready to immerse whenever we least expect them.
Courage has gone through many changes. It has been altered throughout races, cultures, religions, sex, and time. However, the core values of courage has always remained parallel. It is difficult to explain in words the meaning of courage, like describing a color, but everyone knows what courage is, how it feels, and how to perform it. In Harper Lee’s
In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Scout, Calpurnia, and Atticus stand out when courage comes to mind. These characters show courage in many unique ways with different situations. In the early 1930s, in the deep south, racial discrimination was a huge conflict, for example, the Jim Crows Laws were in play, and it legalized segregation between blacks and whites. Courage isn’t always shown in situations, but simply throughout growing up.
Courage can be found where it is least expected. In her book, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, Mildred Taylor uses Cassie as an example courage. Courage is the ability to do something, even though you are frightened of doing it, which Cassie shows a lot throughout the book. Cassie is a little girl, who is very smart, sassy, and courageous. She stands up for what she believes and helps others that need a voice.
Rosa Parks’s influence on the fight for equality was arguably the most impactful of all the leaders in the Civil Rights Movement. Rosa Parks first embarked on her Civil Rights journey by becoming involved with the NAACP. The author of the History website page on Rosa Parks claims, “in December 1943 Rosa also joined the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP, and she became chapter secretary” (Rosa Parks). Rosa started out as a follower, but became dedicated to the organization so she ran for a board position. About ten years later, the famous Rosa Parks story took place in Montgomery.
Rosa Parks Day? Rosa Parks was known for many things, but the one thing mostly everyone knew was her help in the Civil Rights Movement. However, Parks refusal to give up her seat to a white male on her way home from work is one of the most iconic moments in history. This action had encouraged and inspired many others, in specific African Americans to take action on the big situation in that time period. Once the world heard about Parks bravery she became a legend, icon and most importantly a symbol to many others around.
Courage is having the ability to act, despite fear, pain, or uncertainty. Courage does not suppress fear but allows one to continue in the face of fear. I made the decision, for example, to tell my parents about my sexuality. I am gay, and I knew the scrutiny I could face at home, and in society if I told my parents. Although fearful, I was courageous, and shared with them that I was going though.
