The Rules of Engagement documentary focused on the strained relationship between the Branch Davidians and the Federal government that ultimately led to the deaths of many people. The infamous showdown in Waco, Texas between the two groups has had many different opinions on who is to blame. The documentary used Federal Bureau of Investigations negotiation tapes, home videos made by the Davidians, portions from Congressional hearings, extensive interviews with the few Davidian survivors, representatives of law enforcement, independent investigators, scholars and scientists. In this paper, I will evaluate how the Branch Davidians physical and sustained separation was the greatest threat to the federal government and how it was not their firearms, …show more content…
Victor Houteff believed that Christ would return after a small number of Christians had been sufficiently purified of the evil and sinful worldly influences which is outlined in his book The Shepherd's Rod. After Victor Houteff died, there were a few different leaders of the group but eventually David Koresh would gain power.
David Koresh was a young and charismatic leader of this unorthodox Christian group. He stated that he had a revelation from God that he was the end of time Christ. This special Christ was going to be an ordinary man who sinned like anyone else but was specifically chosen by God. This is in accordance to the book of revelations where the seventh and final messenger is to come. David Koresh focused on the book of revelations a lot, paying special attention to the seven

I am not sure if this was intentional or not but I think the repercussions slightly skew the evaluation of the federal government. I think the definition of religion in relation to this group was grossly morphed with the fixation of charismatic David Koresh. Basically, I think they believed that the needed definition of religion was whatever David Koresh said. David Koresh is a key piece in understanding the belief system since he was viewed as a prophet. As a prophet, he had a divine connection for the decoding of the Bible. While it is clear in the home videos made by the Davidians there was an allegiance to David Koresh, the main attraction was the common desire and longing to
One of the wounded was Koresh who was shot in the stomach. The next day the ATF made a perimeter around the compound and called in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) negotiation team. There started the first day of the 51-day stand-off. In the standoff, 35 Davidians left the compound which included 19 children. Almost 40 days into the siege the ATF and FBI grow restless about getting very few Davidians out of the compound and saw that it was going know where.
Ashley Lane Mr.Dahlstrom Composition II 5 May 2017 David Koresh’s Rise to Power David Koresh came to power in 1985 and he developed the Waco compound. David Koresh tried to persuade many of his followers to believe and follow in whatever he did. He used plenty of intimidation tactics to try and gain as much power as possible. Koresh became apart of the Branch of Davidian and eventually took over and became the leader of that group.

Before watching the documentary of the Incident in Oglala with the killings of two FBI Agents that bombarded their way onto the Pine Ridge Reservation and started shooting at some unknown mystery man. I had no recollection of any of this happening, well of course when the shooting happened in 1973 and I wasn’t born until 1994, this gap of time the government sure did a great job sweeping this incident and trial under the rug. One small fact, is that one man Leonard Peltier is sitting in prison for protection his brothers and sisters of his tribe from an attack that no one saw coming. As the documentary sets up is that Dick Wilson was hired by what I believe is the government to keep a watchful eye on the Pine Ridge Reservation after the

When David asked his “eldest sister Mary, where the lovely city [he was dreaming of] could be… she went onto warn [him] seriously not to mention it to anyone else; other people, as far as she knew didn’t have such pictures in their heads…and it would be unwise to mention them.” This shows us that David is possibly
1) In this week’s reading, Marshall explains several forms of Christian war ethics: just war theory, pacifism, just insurrection, and nonviolent resistance. Personally, I admire the pacifism and nonviolent resistance as it seeks to emulate Christ. Knocking a violent system of balance through opposing violence with non-violent forms of defense (p. 153) seems to me a more effective statement then even pacifism. However, as realist and as a member of a family with several military veterans I appreciate the construction of ethical parameters when engaging in war.
One of his views was that he was a messiah and all women were his spiritual wives. David Koresh brain washed his members to believe that the end of the world was near and that he spoke the word of God. They were located in Waco, Texas and began to collect an armory of weapons. Because of the fact that Koresh was having inappropriate sexual relationships with teenage girls in the community and because of the large amount of weapons being stocked up, officials were alarmed. On February 28, 1993, agents from the alcohol, tobacco and firearms bureau were met with gunfire when they tried to serve a search and arrest warrant on members of the Branch Davidian cult..
A rumor has spread that an incipient preacher is in town. Individuals who had aurally perceived him preach verbalize he verbalizes with divine puissance. An abundance of people verbalize he is the messiah, the long-awaited savior who would liberate the Israelites and recuperate tranquility to the land. Others verbally express he is a ficticiously unauthentic. Many do not ken how to react.
Here, they studied the Seven Seals in the Book of Revelation. The Seven Seals are signs of the apocalypse in the Bible. Koresh and the other Davidians studied and awaited that prophesied apocalypse. During this time, Koresh took on several wives and had quite a few children with women from the compound. They raised these children on the compound, away from the outside world, which they believed was wicked and destined for Hell.
Conflict is one of the most basic elements of natural human behavior. Conflict, from a literary standpoint, serves its purpose to create tension within a story, which as a result keeps readers interested and engaged. Whether the conflict is with another person, with nature, or within yourself, it is ubiquitous and unavoidable. In Stephen Crane’s The Red Badge of Courage, the struggles that Henry faces help to give depth and meaning to the story, as well as develop Henry as a character.
David Koresh Teaching followers. Koresh preached he was the Messiah and that if his followers obeyed his words, they would enter with him into the kingdom of heaven. The Davidians compound was located in Waco Texas. Here, Koresh led the end of his reign and prepared for "apocalyptic" measure with fire arms and other alleged materials.
Christianity is arguably one of the the most influential and important aspects that originated in western civilization. The religion started out as a small sect of Judaism and a man named Jesus spreading his word with a few followers. For centuries, Christians in Rome endured persecution and secret worship. With the appeal of eternal salvation and the hierarchy of the church, Christianity gradually spread, began to rise, and eventually became the prominent religion in Rome. Today, Christianity is the most widely practiced religion in the world.
We do not expect someone who cares about us so dearly, to betray us. How could someone trust another if they betrayed them; perhaps someone that was close to that person? That is the exact situation that Jesus and Judas Iscariot (one of Jesus’ twelve disciples), went through. Every story needs a villain, and Judas Iscariot filled that role. The betrayal of Jesus performed by Judas Iscariot, was one thing that Judas Iscariot will be remembered for forever.
Christianity and Judaism are both monotheistic religions that share many similarities. Both religions were found in present day Israel and share a common writing. They shared the same Ten Commandments; Torah for the Jews and the Old Testaments for the Christians. Even though they are common in many different ways, they are also very different. Their marriage rites, rituals and the meaning of life are different.
