I am running for a position in the Vietnamese Culture Society because I would like to further educate myself about Vietnamese culture beyond what I already know from my family, relatives and my own experiences in Vietnam. As an immigrant fresh off the boat from Vietnam, I want to continue preserving my culture and give it an equitable representation here at Silver Creek. I also feel like I have the potential to contribute a lot to VCS in many ways. I am running for the position of Event Commissioner and the position of the Treasurer. I am running to be an Event Commissioner because I feel like my skill set is very fitting for this position. I love making plans and devising events. I would venture to local Vietnamese communities and centers to form volunteer opportunities for the VCS members. Furthermore, I can use my management skills to utilize my position as Event Commissioner or Treasurer. …show more content…
I see myself as a fairly organized individual who can sort data efficiently. I am also proficient at using the computer and I can learn to use new programs quickly. I am a good communicator and I know how to express my idea and share it with others in both Vietnamese and English. Some of my weaknesses are that I can be nervous when it comes to public speaking or that I don’t have an abundance of experiences as it is my first time running for a position in a club. Although I can get nervous at public speaking, I am trying to overcome it over the course of time and I can acquire experience along the way

I always serve my community in any way possible. I am always a good leader for groups, sports, etc., I always welcome new ideas even if
Although a copious amount of people claim that the election betwixt George W. Bush and Al Gore was candid, I have deduced that it in fact was illegitimate and that Al Gore should have won. For instance, in the film Recount it is announced that the machines increased Bush’s votes by three thousand votes and seized thousands of votes from Gore. Because the difference of votes was only one thousand seven hundred and eighty four and if those thousands were not affixed to Bush’s votes and deducted from Gore’s votes, Gore would have obtained the majority of the votes. In addition, people in Florida were perplexed by the voting ballots, they were design in a manner which the voters were left dumbfounded. Because of the perplexing format of the ballots
After being chosen as the President of National Honor Society, the most active club at my school, one of my duties was inducting the new members each year. I remember the butterflies in my stomach as I looked out at all the NHS members and their parents sitting in the huge auditorium. My principal and head of school were both keenly listening to me speak as I prayed not to stutter on any words. However, with every word that left my mouth, I felt my level of confidence rising. After finishing off strong and hearing the roar of applause, I realized that effective public speaking is a vital leadership skill that I definitely
What I did to prepare for my informative speech was I would go through my speech in my head or just think about what I was going to say. Other things I did to prepare was I did all the required things like the outline and power point, I also did things like making note cards so when I went up there I knew what I wanted or needed to say. I felt a little nervous at first when I went up in front of the class, but as I started my nerves calmed down and then it became easy to just talk to everyone. I started to relax more and I didn’t worry about what I said as much and then I started to rely more on what I knew and I didn’t need my note cards as much.
The Presidential Election has dominated the headlines for months. The historic and bitter clash between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump came to a surprising, if not astonishing, crescendo early this morning when Trump accumulated the requisite number of Electoral College votes by capturing traditionally Democratic Pennsylvania. Trump’s lead in Kansas was never in doubt, and he ultimately won Kansas and its 6 Electoral College votes by a 57% to 36% margin over Clinton. The question that many Kansas statehouse observers had heading into the General Election was, “will the unfavorable rating of Trump harm down-ticket Republican legislative candidates?”
I’m a hard-working and motivated person, because I believe that with enough practice anyone can be good at anything. As someone who is born in a collective culture, I’m harmonious and I actively seek to promote harmony and peace in groups and individuals. Because of my harmonious nature, I try to be friendly and kind to people, especially to those that feel left out. Therefore, I’m able to get along well with people while working in groups. In addition, I’m self-critical, therefore, I’m good at knowing my weaknesses and what I’m lacking.
Cultural Thank you to everyone who nominated me for Cultural Chair. For me, I was involved with cultural events throughout High School. I was involved with International Festival and Vietnamese New Years. I always wanted to learn more from other cultures because I know it is important to know about others if you want them to understand about your culture.
Being confident shows your audience you are comfortable talking about your topic and that you are well informed on what you are specking of. Another thing that I can improve on is relaxing, for example, to not be so nervous. If I can think two steps ahead before I speak it would prepare me for what I am about to say which will allow my words to flow out smoothly and correctly. I plan on improving these skills by practicing more speeches in front of people and doing some relaxation exercises before my speech. I believe by implementing more speeches and doing some of the exercises, it will have me more relaxed, keep my mind focused and boost up my confidence so that I may present my speech flawlessly for an A plus grade.
Politics have always cause division amongst individuals. In the US, many citizens agree that politics can be both confusing and complicated. As the nation approaches a presidential election, many are researching the presidential candidates. Thus far, there has been commotion in regards to the candidates, especially of those in the Republican Party. Much of the turmoil is due to the amount of candidates the Republican Party has.
I will practice more to gain confidence before giving any speech. It will help me to deliver any speech with more confidence and less stress. Practicing in front of the mirror is one of the ways that helps me to reduce my stress level. Thus, I will remember to look at the audience while speaking instead of looking down in the notes.

I know a lot of people view you as a crazy man for you saying you have interest in running for president in 2020, but it’s not crazy. It’s a blessing that you want to. Those people don’t understand that your influence is way more than politics. Your power and influence is on another level and no politician has ever possess power of your magnitude. You being a candidate is very beneficial for society.
My biggest need is just the need to be better prepared and second to be more organized. Practice and opportunities to speak in front of a group will help to continue to develop speaking skills. During interviews, I dislike questions about how I feel or a time when I reacted a certain way. Just like in a speech situation I feel everything is moving too fast and I need to remember to slow down, take a breath and remember I’ll be fine.
As students, presentations are something that is required in most classes yet, students do not see themselves as public speakers. Throughout high school and now in college, I have had to present material in 80 percent of the classes that I have taken. Presenting was, and still is something that I struggle with no matter how big or how small the group is that I am presenting to. I knew that Public Speaking was a required class for me so, rather than putting it off, I decided to go ahead and get it out of the was as soon as possible. Speaking in front of people is out of my comfort zone.
