Chapter 2 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE Related Literature Rust Many alloy s are allowed to sit out in the sun unprotected from the ingredient. Some of the alloy are allowed to sit in the atmospheric condition are ferrous metallic element s which means that they can and do undergo the process of oxidization. Oxidation is the outgrowth by which a chemical reaction occurs between the metal and the elements resulting in the orange-brown, depending on the metal, food color on the open. Some people are under the misconception that rust fungus is nothing but a different color on the surface of an alloy prey. This is not true. Not only does rust destroy apparel but it is actually a process that eats away at metallic element weakening it. For many …show more content…
Some animal studies suggest that lemongrass oil may help prevent colon and other types of cancers. Lemongrass contains up to 80 percent citral at the highest concentration of any other plant, making it especially powerful as a headache, cramp, and spasm reliever. Lemongrass may inhibit dangerous bacterial growth and work as an antifungal to fight against Candida. Fermented herbs can also be used to control Candida overgrowth, alongside a natural remedy, like lemongrass essential oil (All Body Ecology Articles, 2016). Lemongrass is an outstanding flavoring in Asian cooking — added to curries and soups, or coordinated with meat, fish, poultry and fish. New lemongrass is moreover used to make lemongrass tea. There are more than 50 collections of lemongrass, yet not all are consumable or ideal for helpful purposes. The two assortments of lemongrass most famously utilized today are C. citratus and Cymbopogon flexuosus. While, they can be utilized conversely, particularly to make lemongrass oil, C. citratus is all the more prominently known in culinary applications, while C. flexuosus is more prevailing in mechanical applications, for example, perfumery. Lemongrass oil is separated from the leaves of the plant. It has a thin consistency, and pale or splendid yellow shading. It has a solid, new, lemony and gritty …show more content…
Falah, R. D. Ayunda and D. N. Faridah(2015) entitled “Potential of lemongrass leaves extract (Cymbopogon citratus) as prevention for oil oxidation”, Lemongrass (C. citratus) is a plant commonly used as a spice by the people in Indonesia. Utilization is limited to the stalk lemongrass oil oil oil only, while the leave are still become waste. This inquiry aims to work the potential of lemongrass leave excerption for the prevention of oil oxidization . Extraction wasused by boniness method acting on lemongrass leave using ethyl alcohol 30, 70 and 96% and qualitative test of phytochemical portion , determination of sum phenolics and antioxidant activity on extracts of lemongrass leaves. Phytochemicals analysis results showed that the ethanol extract of leaves of lemongrass contains alkaloids, saponin , tannic acid , flavonoids, phenols, and steroid . The highest total phenol content was in the 30% ethanol extract of 50.017GAE (Gallic Dot Combining weight ) mg/g. Ethanol extract of lemongrass leaves is potential as an antioxidant because its inhibitory against free radical DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl). The best IC50 values were obtained in the 70% ethanol extract of 79.444 mg/L. The highest antioxidant activity by Rancimat pawn occurs in 70% ethanol
(i.e., what was the evidence of reaction?) When the piece of magnesium come in contact with the flame, it ignited and emitted an intense bright white light. The light was so intense that it was painful to look at. Furthermore, after the metal was done burning the piece of magnesium changed color and consistency. Before the reaction it was a dull gray, malleable piece of metal.
There has been an oil scam near the Black Vine Swamp. The Red Diamond Energy Corporation (REDC) is an oil company. They're trying to find as much oil as they can without pumping the oil out of the ground. The government would pay them not to pump the oil. A man named Drake McBride is the head of the RDEC.
Chickpeas are rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals. A serving of 100g cooked chickpeas salt contains 27.42 g carbohydrates, which helps to generate energy; 7.6 g fiber for a healthy heart and a healthy digestive system; 2.59 g fat; and 8.86 g protein. Chickpeas also contain vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin K. The minerals contained in the grains are calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and
Something I learned about in Herbology 301 is healing. Healing is an important part of our life, which is why i wanted to write about it. Healing spells are needed in everyday life, and if we were to ask someone how many healing spells they 've used in their lifetime, the number would probably be too high to remember. I also learned that mental illnesses are not one-spell-cure-all diseases, which is very helpful to know.
Prairie Bush Clover is an herbaceous perennial, a plant whose growth dies down annually but whose roots or other underground structures survive, that is a member of the legume family. Its native area is Midwest tall grass prairie. This Clover produces one stem that can grow up to a meter, are densely covered with fine hairs, and has a silver tint. Their leaves are pea-shaped, widely spaced throughout the stem, with three leaflets each, and also have a silvery tint. When this plant is mature, it produces pink flowers on that blooms from July to September.
The History and Science of Healing With Essential Oils Did you know that at least 30% of prescription drugs in the United States are based on naturally occurring compounds from plants? Each year, millions of dollars are spent searching for new, undiscovered, curative elements in the bark, roots, flowers, seeds and foliage of plants from every corner of the Earth. As the most powerful part of the plant, essential oils and plant extracts have been mankind 's first medicine. History has shown and science supports that these can be used medicinally to kill bacteria and viruses.
In the novel Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli, the greatest threat the Jews forced to survival life in the ghetto is both the lack of food and Nazi soldiers. Nowadays, threats don't look like Nazi soldiers they look like cats and dogs and fighting. For example, Nazi soldiers “are going to forced people into the camps by deportations. They are going to get rid of all of you.” (p.169)
Rapid Oxidation of Steel Wool Arby D. Dickert Western Governors University Rapid Oxidation of Steel Wool Abstract The rapid oxidation of steel wool involves an exothermic reaction of iron with oxygen. Due to the decrease in volume of the combustion products compared to the original sample, many students would expect the products would weigh less than the original sample. This investigation determines that the product weighs more than the sample and why this occurs.
“Treasure” Writing Assignment Do you believe that treasure is something meaningful and personal to yourself or is it simply just money or gold? I agree with the claim that treasure is something valuable and personal, and that it doesn’t necessarily have to be money or gold in the story, “The Treasure Of Lemon Brown”. I believe that treasure can come in any, way, shape, or form. Lemon Brown, Greg, and Greg’s father all help portray and define the meaning of “treasure” throughout the story.
Starting a business is not always an easy path to success, as it requires determination to overcome obstacles that are along the way. Lemonade day illustrated that not everything always goes according to plan. Having multiple lemonade stands all in one area caused numerous challenges for our group as the competition was fierce. Although our group made some money, we could have done significantly better and donated more money to charity. In the end, lemonade day demonstrated that many things went well in our group, while there were many things that could have gone better.
There are many things that some plants can provide. “Smudge ourselves real good with sweetgrass or cedar first. Get cleansed so we can approach it with respect” (page 166). The smoke that is given off of the burning sweetgrass is well knows to purify the body, heart, and soul. Traditional medicinal plants like the Wiike (wee-kay) root, can take away the pain from a sore throat.
Have you ever thought that an elderly, homeless man could own a treasure of his own? Everyone has their own treasure. In the story “The treasure of lemon Brown” by Walter Dean Myers, the author uses Descriptive adjectives and Figurative language. He uses these to explain and help the reader visualize the setting, mood, and characters in the story.
Kenneth Jackson, the author of the book Crabgrass Frontier, provides an extensive overview of the history of and explains the causes to the suburbanization in the United States. He sees such development in the United States as unique due to the extent of cities’ suburban sprawl, the number of commuters, and the proportion of homeowners (190). Jackson explained that because of the inexpensive land, low construction cost, improvement in transportation technology and along with government’s involvement, Americans settle in the crabgrass frontier. However, Jackson describes that “[s]uburbs, then, were socially and economically inferior to cities when wind, muscle, and water were the prime movers of civilization… Even the word suburb suggested inferior
As soon as the wire was submerged into the solution, the aluminum atoms and the copper (II) ions underwent a reduction-oxidation (redox) reaction, meaning aluminum was oxidized and donated its electrons to the copper ions, which were reduced. As a result, solid copper began to form on the surface of the aluminum wire, giving the wire a brown-orange color that resembled rust. The wire had to be regularly shaken in order to remove the solid copper particles and thereby expose more of the aluminum wire to react with the surrounding solution. As the reaction progressed, the liquid copper chloride solution slowly began to lose its color and turn clear. This was a chemical reaction, as seen by the bubbles formed with the wire was added, meaning gas was released when aluminum was oxidized and copper was reduced, but it also gave rise to physical changes, such as the change in color of the solution from blue-green to rusty orange to clear.
Oleic destructive has been associated with reduced aggravation and been appeared to effectsly influence qualities associated with ailment . The fats in avocado are moreover completely impenetrable to warm influenced oxidation, making avocado oil a sound and safe choice for
