She became a voice for the people who put their life on the line while working at Rocky Flats.

Some students tend to forget their teachers when they are done with school. Melissa Hoebee, a teacher who currently teaches in Southern Middle School, shares about her life in teaching and life experiences from her childhood to today. She chose to be a teacher because she wanted to help people learn in school. These life experiences and events before in her childhood helped her become the teacher she is today.

These opponents believe that the law is worth it because of the health benefits for the citizens. However, this argument has utterly no grounds because the ends should never justify the means. Forcing the citizens, who bear in mind, most of whom are adults, to do something for their own good is completely wrong. While it may be the right choice, the people should at least be able to make their own decision. The government shouldn’t have to baby their people, they can think for themselves. Removing the ability for them to have a choice strips people of their freedom, and America is built on the ideal of freedom. Adding on, the soda ban might not even have any health benefits. Referring back to Gross’ article, a nutritionist is quoted as saying, “It is not reasonable to blame or cite one product… [the proposal] produces a false sense of accomplishment in the fight against obesity.” Even health experts disagree with the ban. This mandate supposedly improves people’s well-being, but it fails at accomplishing that goal. In life some feel the need to prove something to others. That they are better, stronger, or even more intelligent. Whatever the case may be people will go through extreme measures to prove themselves. But who do we really need to prove anything to? Is it our parents? Friends? Enemies? Or is it even ourselves? Chris McCandless, deceased adventurer from “Into the Wild”, underwent many obstacles that seems highly ridiculous. Certain physical and mental challenges that could have prevented, Chris decided to do defying the chance of death or severe injury. But the real misunderstanding is who was Chris proving his manhood too?

Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.

Why single out sugared sodas, they ask; obesity has many causes and contributors, not just what people drink and if sugared beverages are being targeted? Why not take stronger measures against other sources of sugar such as candy and other sweets? However, this caused a lot of controversy on whether the ban was good or bad. Despite the amount of people supporting the ban´s choice, the ban does have some downsides on it. It is not a good idea to limit the amount of a soda a person can purchase (or propose the ban) because it's not applying to all, it's taking rights away from people, and itś not a big deal.

Essentially, the main controversy was whether the ban should have been repealed or ever created. According to Stone, by limiting people from doing something as simple as drinking certain amounts of soda, the city was going through the wrong course towards their objective. What I feel I did well on this argumentative essay was my research. I had many sources that provided me with facts and statistics and they helped me to decide what side I was on. There were many sources that I did not use but that I had read through. What I struggled with was commentary. I feel that the commentary in my argumentative essay was not very strong. I am able to use discussion and debate in the future to explore/research a topic by choosing a topic and then doing research on both sides so that I can could a side to align with.
