4.3.1. The development of a SWOT analysis
The SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) will be analysed in respect of the key performance areas identified so as to uncover existing deficiencies, efficacies and efficiencies, enabling the PMO teams to produce creative ideas for organisational improvement.
4.3.1.1. Strengths could include market dominance, leadership and management acumen, and a sound financial position.
4.3.1.2. Levi Strauss weaknesses could include underperformance of its shares, dearth of core strengths and skills, old technology, poor structural arrangements, and lack of innovation.
4.3.1.3. Identifying the potential threats whilst developing scenarios clearly showing what could happen in the future, for example the13% drop in sales and loss of 60% revenue whilst closing 29 factories and retrenching 16,318 employees.

PESTLE analysis : Is a shortcut of six words which is political , Economic , Social , Technological , Legal and Environmental .Usually this concept used in marketing .Also it used as a tool by organization to track the environment they are operating in or are planning to new project or service .Moreover it used to assess the four external factors with regard to the situation of the organization's business ,and how it will effect in the business over long term. Political factors: This factor looks at how government regulations and legal issues affect a business's chance to be profitable and successful.
I. Strengths of TARGET Corporation Target Corporation is one of the largest and oldest public discount retailing company operate in the United States. The company founded in 1902’s by George Dayton (as also known as Dayton Dry Goods in 1962’s). Target store has a huge store footprint and enjoys considerable brand recognition. Target’s portfolio of owned and exclusive brands is also its strength, which allow retailer to a valuable differentiating lover in high competitive retail environment.
TRADER JOE’S – INDUVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT 1 Part 1 – Introduction What Joe Coulombe did was opening an ordinary supermarket into the industry but the strategies he took were separating the Trader Joe’s from its rivals. What he did was to offer products targeting sophisticated costumers who were searching for good bargains. The offerings of Trader Joe’s were so unique which are not found at rival shelfs. Another crucial decision he made was to take advantage of recent environmental movements such as the rising trend of costumers searching organic foods. The company also decided on selling private labelled products with lower prices than other brands of the same product.
In this segment we will discuss about the external forces of the company that are not controllable (Keegan and Keegan, 1989). PESTLE analysis will be an effective tool here to analyze the factors. 2.1.1 PESTLE Analysis PESTLE is a very effective macro environmental tool containing six important factor. Pestle Analysis Political Factor Eataly operates in global environment with their operation spread all around the globe; the operation of the company is influenced strongly by political situation of the country where they are doing business. As Eataly have flexible policies to adjust in an unstable economy (Reijers & Mansar, 2005). Economic Factors The entire planet has witnessed the economic decline and hence the characteristic of purchasing products has been greatly affected all companies without exception Eataly. In addition, the income level of Europe is relatively uneven which makes some people fail to pay for products offered by the company (Chaffey, 2009).

UNIQLO was first, to be introduced by Fast Retailing in 1984. It was a brand created to provide comfortable causal clothing to everyone, women, men, kids and babies. PESTEL analysis is a tool that is used to analyse an organisation’s macro-environment. Political Environment The incident of 9/11 has affected the airline industry adversely. The number of tourists to different countries has immensely decreased due to the fear of safety and security issues. On the other hand countries have put measures in place such as strict visa policies and border controls in an effort to combat terrorism attacks.
PESTEL ANALYSIS Pestel is a strategic analysis tool used by organizations to scan the macro-environment in which they operates, helps to identify external factors that can affect the organization's business activities and performance (Gockeln 2014). Macro-environmental factors are those that affect clothing industry and the industry have no control over rather than adapting to it. By so doing, it gives ability to differentiate themselves from potential competitors and sustain performance. Table 2 depicted, (PESTEL) Political, Economic, Social/ Cultural, Technological, Environmental and Legal external factors. Political factors: these are examined from the political stability point of view, which covers government policy intervention in the economy, deregulation, taxation changes, as well as the attitude of political parties on the government policy.
