Louie was later punished by holding a beam above his head for as long as he could for supposedly letting the goat that he was taking care of die. “He felt his consciousness slipping, his mind losing adhesion, until all he knew was a single thought: He cannot break me. Across the compound, the Bird had stopped laughing” (Hillenbrand 302). Severely starved, underweight, and scarred; Louie held the beam for 37 minutes. Because of Louie’s defiance he held on to his dignity though life as a

He comes up with a smart plan to escape the cave. Odysseus first hurts Polyphemus in the eye, which leads to Polyphemus yelling for help. However, Odysseus tells the Cyclops his name is “Nohbdy,” so the other Cyclopes hear nothing is wrong. In Of Mice and Men, George has lots of courage when shooting Lennie. Lennie was his lifelong friend and he had to accept that he would continue to suffer on the earth and knew that his innocence would always get the better of him. His innocence ultimately overpowers his physical strength and George knew that he would not be able to survive in the world, as displayed with the innocent puppy that ends up being killed by Lennie. George and Slim are very upset in the end because no one could really understand Lennie. George always had to explain and he had the courage to do so.
Eventually, Odysseus is the only one that holds strong and resists the cattle, partially due to the fact that he was the only person that knew what the true consequences were. In the story, after many days of hunger, the men break down and Eurylochus convinces them to disregard what Odysseus told them about the kine, telling his companions to, “cut out the noblest of these cattle for sacrifice” and feast on the others (VII: 884-885). This dreadful decision ended up costing the men their lives, showing that if only they did resist the temptation like Odysseus, they would not have had such a gruesome ending. Because Odysseus did this, he survived and made his way to an island where he could eat as much as he wanted, showing that resisting temptation pays
Nearly everyone in the village fights against these dragons, including the leader, Hiccups father, Stoick the vast, who is well respected and brave. Unlike Hiccups father, Hiccup is considered weak, and clumsy. These steps reflect modern culture because Hiccup didn’t really make good decisions and didn’t listen to his father a lot. In ‘The call’ Hiccup didn’t make a good decision by going and hunting dragons by himself and he didn’t listen to his dad because his dad warned him not to go by himself but he refused to listen. Also, he shouldn’t have gone close to Toothless because those kinds of dragons are very dangerous, but he got lucky with
Eventually, the men escaped the cave by tying themselves to the underside of the Cyclops's sheep. Despite his immense intellect, Ulysses falls short on occasion. After escaping the cave, the men made their way back to the ship. Feeling emboldened by his wonderful scheme, Ulysses began to taunt the giant. Despite his men’s pleas, Ulysses would not yield.
In the novel, the murder of Simon is the result of over excitement from the boys while participating in Jack’s dance and chant. Simon emerges from the forest with news that the beast isn’t real and in the heat of the moment the boys attack him and do not realize they’ve killed Simon until it is done. Piggy’s death however is caused by Roger dislodging a large boulder and hitting Piggy in the head. Due to a lack of any form of government or a judiciary department, these crimes go unaccounted for as far as we know. Simon’s death warrants that the boys deserve to serve a minimal amount of time in jail because they believed it was a beast not a man.
In the concentration camp, Elie refused to give is gold crown to Franek. Franek wasn’t going to take no for an answer and goes on to torturing him by beating Elie’s dad for not marching. “All of a sudden, this pleasant and intelligent young man had changed.” (Wiesel 55) The inhumanity and harsh conditions caused Franek to turn inhumane and look for ways to get valuable things.
I had him so long. Had him since he was a pup. I herded sheep with him’ he said proudly, ‘You wouldn 't think it to look at him now, but he was the best damn sheep dog i ever seen.” (44) He knows now he is a weak man, like his dog, and when he was younger they both were great workers, but now they are both old and broken.
When lennie killed that little puppy is completely an accident. He didn 't and still doesn 't understand that he has incredible strength, and that he needs to know how to use it. Evolving like Buck in Call of the Wild is difficult ,but worth the journey. Buck was sold and beaten all at once, which made him a very angry and a weakened dog. When he tries to break free of his cage, he had been trapped in , he was hurt to stop . Another time is when he had to kill Spitz to stop the mayhem of Spitz 's reign.
After that day Snowball ran away everything changed and could never go back to the way it was because Napoleon was in everyone’s mind, he could say anything and they will believe him that’s why they all hated Snowball so much. Snowball doesn’t mind any of it, at the end of the day he keeps returning to the farm and wondering around. Snowball is admirable because no matter how much hate he is receiving he will still come back. This reason clarifies why Snowball is my favorite character, he will never care about anything. Snowball is brave enough to fight for what he wants, he will do anything to get it and will not take failure as an
Dystopian Societies A dystopian society by definition is the exact opposite of a utopia. This means that nothing is perfect, or peaceful. Everything is chaos and nothing works out right. This could be because of a rebellion, because a group has too much power, or because the main goal of a society did not work out as planned.
