Saint Solanus Casey’s Life: Then and Now Saint Solanus Casey is an outstanding religious figure. Saint Solanus made a difference in the the lives of others as a simplex priest with healings and conversions and the building of a soup kitchen still present and active today. His influence remains today in all that look to him for help and grace in their everyday lives. His soup kitchen establishment is a prime example of his care and compassion for those less fortunate. Saint Solanus Casey embodies the Beatitude: blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the Earth due to his outstanding ability to forgive and to place the needs of others before him. Saint Solanus Casey was ordained a simplex priest, meaning he was not allowed to hear confessions or preach homilies. This however, didn’t stop people from seeking him out for advice, healing, and forgiveness as a representative and follower of God. Saint Solanus was known for his miraculous healings and conversions and his powerful faith in God. Saint Solanus showed his compassion for the needy by establishing a soup kitchen still present in the Capuchin seminary today. Even before his death, Saint Solanus maintained a powerful trust and faith in God, showing in his final words “I give my soul to Jesus”. Saint Solanus Casey has continued to make an impact even after his death. The construction of a soup kitchen established in the Capuchin seminary has changed the lives of the poor and needy seeking food and shelter throughout the year. As a Saint, many look to Saint Solanus seeking aid in their lives where there may be troubles or setbacks that have occurred. Saint Solanus is also looked to as an exemplary saint that submitted his life to the will of God.
