Strengths are an internal factor of a SWOT. This is establishing the areas in which you are better than your competitors and what makes the business unique. For Pure Indulgence the range of unique treatments they offer, for example the MiniMi weight loss wraps, Hopi Ear candle treatment and the Image Skincare range of products and facials. These are very unique treatments which are nowhere else in donegal.
Another strength of Pure Indulgence is the locality of the owner. Ciara is a third generation of entrepreneurs in this town and is known for her entrepreneurial instinct and love of beauty. This shows in her attention to detail in the running and continuous success of her business.

Starting with competition against other beauty salons. Beauty salons are a popular business and numerous shops are found in all towns and cities across Ireland. This creates competition amongst the salons in terms of fighting for clients and frequent custom resulting in competitive price wars. Salons lowering their prices to benefit customers but resulting in smaller profit intake. In today’s society the beauty and fashion sector is becoming increasingly successful with new SME’s emerging, offering a wide range of products and services. With this in mind it does mean that there is a significant increase in competition for those setting up/ maintaining or working in this industry. For Pure Indulgence, in the area of Donegal Town where it is located it is surrounded by several businesses of the same nature as well as a number of chemists that offer services such as make up. To add to this, the emergence of MUA’s (Make up Artists who are people who usually don’t have a degree or certificate in the beauty sector) are also threats in terms of competition. MUA’s pose a significant risk in relation to clients as they will attract their own friends and families to come to them for events as well as go to their homes as they do not have a premises for their service.
