The Samoyed breed of dogs were named after the Samoyedic tribe of Siberia and were used by the tribe for herding the reindeers and pulling their sleds. Now, these white, furry canines are kept as pets. They possess a friendly and playful nature and are an excellent companion for children. However, their over friendliness makes them a poor guard dog. They constantly crave active lifestyle and when bored, they begin to dig. The life expectancy of a Samoyed breed is 12- 13 years.
