Samsung is the largest multinational business conglomerate company in South Korea, headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul. It comprises lots of subsidiaries and affiliated numerous business, most of them united under the Samsung brand. Samsung was founded by Lee Byug-chul in 1938 as a trading company. After three decades, the group diversified into areas including textiles, insurance, food processing, securities and retail. It entered the electronic industry in the late 1960s and the shipbuilding and construction in the mid-1970s; these areas were able to drive its subsequent growth.

Training is the process of planned programs and procedures undertaken for the enhancement and improvement of employees’ performance such as attitude, knowledge, skills and behavior. These programs can incredibly improve the entire performance of group. Training can be considered as a short process and it’s applied to lower, middle, senior level management and technical staff. There are many purposes of training and development. First of all, improving quality of workforce is the program that can help improving the quality of work. Mostly, training is conducted in a certain area such as marketing, finance or HR, which eventually help in improving quality of work in that specific area. Next purpose is to enhance employee growth by attending training and development program, employees are able to master their duty of jobs and develop themselves in a professional way. Preventing obsolescence is also one of the effective programs. After having done this stage, Instructional design should be conducted. Setting training goals, determining what to train, identifying trainees, choosing training materials, scheduling training and developing budget are the process of instruction design. (Dirani, 2012) Validation is one the most important process in this stage. Manager can now implement the training and development program obtaining continuous support from line-management to the training program. Finally, HRM manager could evaluate employees by conducting many kinds of methods such as questionnaire, performance appraisal or interview. (Garavan and Heraty, 1993) If Samsung does not implement training and development in their HR management, those untrained employees may be more costly than even the wage paid to them due to the mistakes they easily make. While, trained employees asks for less help and improve their own efficiency and skills further. By letting the employees know that company always cares and invest for them, employees would tend to work harder to reciprocate the favor. And hard working eventually will create more returns, profit margins and production. Training and development provides employees a good chance to realize their potential and make them to work at their best level of abilities.
