Nothing is more horrible than mass murders, whether its workplace, school, or any place of public assembly it is a tragedy nonetheless. That’s why the sadistic atrocities that took place on December 14th, 2012 in Sandy Hook Connecticut, where students at the Sandy Hook Elementary school were gunned down by twenty-year-old Adam Lanza who apparently suffered from an obsessive-compulsive behavior. Adam Peter Lanza lived with his mother Nancy just five miles from Sandy Hook Elementary, where he attended school for a short time. He had a brother named Ryan Lanza, who was four years older than Adam. Nancy and her husband Peter, Adam's father, divorced in 2009. Newtown, Connecticut, is a city full of parks and fields for thousands of residents. It is a tranquil place with maintained public peace and order. (children laughing sound) However, just 5 years ago, 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children between six and seven years old, as well as six adult staff members. Before driving to the school, he shot his mother twice in the head when she was in her bed.
Jeffrey Dahmer, a famous serial killer who killed over seventeen people, died in prison while waiting out fifteen consecutive life sentences. Dahmer, one of America’s most notorious serial killers, had a difficult childhood that spiraled out of control and began an unhealthy obsession with killing animals as a young child that led to him becoming a murderous necrophiliac. Dahmer, who was born on May 21, 1960 had a relatively normal life until he was four. “He was described as an energetic and happy child until the age of four, when surgery to correct a double hernia seemed to effect a change in the boy” (Biography.com Editors). After the surgery he had little emotion and was an unhappy child most of the time.
[a] No formal punishment was ever able to be inflicted on Adam Lanza because once he saw law enforcement personnel he committed suicide with a handgun (Melia 2013). [b] Again, Lanza didn’t receive any informal punishments for shooting and killing all these people because he killed himself before any rightful punishment could be inflicted. During informal sanctions, ridicule can cause a straying towards norms. Prior to committing mass murder, students suggested that Lanza may have been bullied but there was never any confirmation and many people generally thought he was a weird kid (Melia 2013). 4.
“In fewer than 11 minutes, twenty first-grade pupils and six adults had lost their lives” (Sanchez 1). On December 14, 2012 the lives of families across the nation changed forever. Adam Lanza, a twenty year old man suffering with multiple mental illnesses, went on a shooting rampage at the Sandy Hook Elementary School after murdering his mother just minutes before. He had no motive for his unbelievable actions, but took the lives of children who had so many more years to live and memories to make. The Sandy Hook shooting was the second most deadly shooting in the United States, as it scarred innocent people, and still has families across the nation wondering why this horrific event happened.
On December 14, 2012 a 20 year old 120 pound autistic kid with assburgers syndrome strolled into Sandy Hook elementary school strapped and loaded with over forty pounds of weaponry and murdered 26 people in less than eleven minutes and killed a ratio of 26:1 at a 96 murder percentage rate, only injuring one unknown person by a rickshaw bullet in the foot. Thus making this uncoordinated, barley able to tie his own shoe, autistic, scrawny Adam Lanza the deadliest mass shooter of all time. Some conspersists have a hard time believing all this, I happen to be one of those conscpetist. Looking at this picture posted by the social security death index (SSDI) shows that Adam Lanza died on December 13, 2012, but as I mentioned before the Sandy Hook massacre did not happen until the 14th. Also take a close look at what I believe to be the most important thing, at the bottom of the picture it shows its confirmation, and this was proven to be right.

The Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting was one that shocked the nation and opened the eyes of Americans everywhere. This horrible event opened up our eyes to the fact that someone could easily come into a school and raise havoc with ease. This man, Adam Lanza, had no affiliation with Sandy Hook or any one inside it but still decided to take the lives of 20 children and 6 adults before taking his own. In the statements made by Joe Scarborough from his show “Morning Joe”, he says “Every American must know from this day forward that nothing can be the same again.” This is a very powerful statement because it brings up an important point.

A major topic in the following months after. When the police found Adam he had two semiautomatic handguns and a rifle with a 30- round magazine. After only five minutes of shooting in the school, he had shot off 154 bullets (Owings). Owings is warning us how dangerous guns can be in the wrong hands, and how much damage they can do in a little amount of time. Senator Terry Gerratana helped pass a bill to better the Mental Health System in Connecticut and stop gun violence in situations like Sandy Hook.

School Shootings: How We All Miss the Point... The aftermath of a school shooting is tragic, depressing, and causes hatred for the lives lost and the person who took them. Everyone, especially the media, tries to interpret why the shooter killed their victims, or why they felt the need to end others’ lives and their own. How We All Miss the Point on School Shootings, by Mark Manson, explains what and why these mass shootings happen. He starts by using examples of shootings and the murderer’s past.
On April 20, 1999, the unimaginable occurred at Columbine High School in the small town of Littleton, Colorado. A school shooting, carried out by, then senior students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold took the entire community by storm. With 15 deaths, including the perpetrators, and 24 non-fatal injuries, the memories of this horrific massacre will forever resonate in the minds of all.
