In reality, their relationship had to be kept a secret from their parents. Adnan had especially strict parents that would check his car mileage and had to make sure there was no female hair in his car. Adnan had to keep his homecoming crown in his basement from his parents, which later his mom found. The stress that Adnan and Hae had from their relationship ended with Hae breaking up with Adnan. Adnan and his family are Pakistani and follow a strict religion. Adnan’s religion could have played a part to his and Hae’s break …show more content…
There is motive as to why Adnan would kill Hae. Adnan bended his religion by dating Hae and having sex with her. He had given up a lot to be with her. When Hae broke up with him, it gives him motive to kill her because he was so angry for giving up so much. In episode 2 of the podcast, one of Adnan’s teachers said that his poetry was dark, and she hasn’t seen writing like that from other students. This makes the audience think Adnan is evil and could have killed Hae. Another reason Adnan can be the killer is he because he is an EMT. Adnan is smart and quick, and can know how to strangle someone and bring them back to life if he wanted to. An EMT has lots of practice and skill with life and death situations. When Adnan was being interviewed, he first told the cops that he was driving his own car, but during a different time he said he was getting a ride from someone. Small speculations and changes to a story throughout the podcast can immensely change a whole
Adnan said he didn’t know what he did that day and that it felt like a normal day it being six weeks who couldn’t blame him. Except for the part of how could this be an ordinary day, Adnan claimed to be very close with Hae how would you not remember the day of her disappearance. This day should be engraved in your brain for awhile at least six weeks I would say. Adnan’s only claims was to be with Asia, Jay’s girlfriend and Hae’s friend at the time and she was nowhere to be found during the court hearings and investigation.
Asia’s story shows that Adnan was not around Hae at the time of her murder. According to Asia, Adnan was in the library around 2:30 – the same time Hae was murdered- proving that Adnan was wrongfully convicted. Furthermore, Asia wrote Adnan a note which states “I’m not sure if you remember talking to me in the library on January 13th, but I remembered chatting with you. Throughout your actions that day I have a reason to believe in your innocence” (https://serialpodcast.org/season-one/1/the-alibi0). This restates my claim that Adnan being in wrongfully convicted based on Asia’s testimony.
A journey offers life changing experiences, in which challenges can dictate one’s path. Physical journeys involve the identifying of the new and exploring the changing environments, which leads the explorer on fresh new experiences. The process of physical journeys and inner journeys allows the protagonists to reflect on the impact of the trip. This is done through a variety of audio and visual techniques which are present in both Barry Cook’s Film Mulan 1998 and The Serial Podcasts, by Sarah Koenig.
Another way was that Adnan was a duplicitous liar and played a “good Muslim” at home. Koenig then later finds out that a “potential alibi” was left out of Adnan’s case since it conflicted with Adnan’s own alibi despite him not remembering what happened on that day. In other words, it was too late since he had already been
Creative nonfiction is about accurate, true and great literature. The Serial Podcast, narrated by Sarah Keonig, is considerable creative storytelling and based completely on authentic stories. With each episode listened to nearly 3.5 million times and being the fastest downloaded podcast ever launched on Apple, Serial made quite the impact. Serial is the reopening of a 1999 murder case. Have you ever had a fight with your siblings because they accused you of breaking something in the house? How would you feel if it wasn’t just breaking something small in the house, but rather the killing of another person? In the Serial podcast, an 18 year old high school Muslim boy, Adnan, was accused of murdering his Korean ex-girlfriend, Hae. His accuser was his 19 year old friend, Jay. Serial goes through the alibis that were presented and weren’t present at the trial.
A call by Nisha and Fingerprint was the most evidence which makes Adnan not innocent and his Cell phone was somewhere else at a time when he says he was at school. The last reason is cell phone pinging the Leakin park where Hae Min Lee buried . Hae Min Lee felt stressed being with Adnan. The more she was together with Adnan the more she fell against the relationship
Providing the question of, How did Adnan kill Hae if he did not have his car nor get a ride from her? Moreover, Adnan and Jay both testified that Adnan’s cell phone and him were separated within the day around lunch time when Adnan returned back to school and left the phone in the car with Jay. Adnan explained that he did not receive his phone back until his track practice was finished which would be around 5:00 pm that day. Focusing on the cell phone call log we notice a call made to Nisha at around 3:32 pm which would make it impossible for Adnan to make the call that afternoon due to all his events that were testified.
Adnan can’t be considered guilty if there isn’t enough evidence present for a jury to make such as life changing decision. The only evidence used in this case was one testimony and the defendant’s phone records. The testimony was made by Jay Wilds who was with Adnan during the time of Hae’s disappearance. He stated that Adnan planned everything ahead of time and asked him to help after her death. Jay admitted to helping with the disposal of the body, but he’s testimony doesn’t sound trustworthy.
Serial: Season One In season one of Sarah Koenig’s podcast, Serial, Koenig challenges the legitimacy of the Maryland justice system in the conviction of Adnan Syed. Jay Wilds is influential in the case of the murder of Hae Min Lee, and his testimony was the primary source for Adnan Syed’s conviction. Koenig examines corrupt interactions between the court and Jay Wilds. Jay delineated the main timeframe for the prosecution to use against Syed.
These people say that since Hae broke up with Adnan and that was enough reason to want her dead. However, Adnan was a smart kid who would realize that killing someone for breaking up with you is not a valid reason. Adnan was not hurt enough to kill Hae; he was devastated when she died and he didn't know about it when he was told. Also, they say that Adnan had enough time to kill Hae. What this opinion fails to take into account is that Asia saw Adnan at the library around the same time of the murder and she was never used in court as an alibi (Koenig, “The Best Defense is a Good Defense”).
All of these questions and more are answered, or contemplated, throughout a series of twelve episodes that dive straight into the facts, the evidence, and the holes in each suspect 's
The Case of Adnan Syed She was killed over a breakup. On March 13, 1999, Hae Min Lee was murdered and buried in a shallow grave at Linkin Park. She was a popular kid at Woodlawn High School, who played lacrosse and had lots of friends.
Relationships, lies, murder, conviction. These are all aspects that come into play when talking about the January 13th, 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee. Adnan Syed, Hae’s 17-year-old ex-boyfriend was convicted of her murder in 2000. The problem with this is that the only evidence the state had to convict Adnan was the stories told by others, specifically someone named Jay who was with Adnan for some of the day Hae went missing and had possession of Adnan’s car and cell phone. He claims Adnan made him come pick him up after the murder was committed and assist him in burying Hae’s body.
