Teen drivers are involved in twelve percent of fatal vehicle crashes. Sixteen year old drivers are twenty times more likely to have a vehicle wreck. Teenagers usually tend to take more risks because of their emotions, stress, and peer pressure in their life. Older drivers learn how to break or ignore the pressures of life by adapting to them when driving. Some people believe that the driving age should not be raised from sixteen to eighteen.
Driving age should be raised Some parents may be proud when they see their children who are still in Senior High School, even junior high school, able to drive a vehicle. But according to Law Number 22 Year 2009 on Traffic and Road Transport, the minimum age of applicant for driver 's license (SIM) is 16 years for SIM C and 17 years for SIM A. In other words, allowing minors to drive means tantamount to plunging them into a legal snare. age factor has a link to the safety context in driving, in this case is the risk of accidents while driving. The topic of ongoing debate in the world of salvation is whether the age of driving should be raised.
A great number of young lives are tragically cut short every year, in one of the leading causes of death in the world: car accidents. Soon after obtaining their permit at just sixteen, a large amount of teens end up making a fatal mistake while driving and lose their lives. America, understandably concerned with the death rate, has since implemented stricter laws regarding obtaining a driver’s license, and many are considering raising the minimum driving age. Throughout time, young age has always been correlated with recklessness and carelessness, and it would be sensible to take that into account when taking a stance on such a dangerous issue as car accidents. In order to increase safety and reduce death, it would be prudent to raise the minimum driving age.
Do you think the minimum driving age should be raised? I agree with the state raising the driving age because of drivers under the age of sixteen is not ready for the safety of the road. It is a big responsibility to driving, and it is a big safety issue. You will need to think about the more accidents, being maturity, and they will need more practice behind the wheel. The state legislature is concern about safety, so they increase the driving age.
As I walk to the car, I can feel myself becoming hesitant. “I drive all the time, you're a good driver, don’t worry.” I whispered to myself as I slid into the driver's seat. Waiting for my Dad to jump in the car with me, I sat there, thinking of all the possible outcomes of my test. I had become more nervous than I was before. I tend to do this a lot.
Holden’s only desire or career plan was to be a lowly farmer; not exactly a great career choice when your parents prompt you to attend boarding school after boarding school to ensure you have a good career and future. “‘...we could get married or something. I could chop all our wood…” (Salinger 132). Here, Holden is pressuring Sally to run away with him and live in a farmhouse for the rest of their lives, before even asking her opinion. He didn’t give much thanks to his parents either.
In January of this year, my uncle was killed in a car accident. The other driver was lost so he was looking at the maps on his phone. The few seconds he was on his phone distracted him enough so that he went into my uncle’s lane. I want to find out what solutions could be implemented which would minimize accidents like these. Since there are so many possible solutions, people can’t agree on what the best solution to the problem is.
By raising the minimum driving age in the United States of America the teenage motor vehicle accident rates would decrease. For 16 year olds, the thought of obtaining a drivers license is exciting. Being able to go shopping, visit with friends, and just drive around town is a major step towards being independent. However, there are risks when driving. In the Havens family, all four teenagers that drive have been in an accidents within the first six months of driving independently.
Raising the Age The current age for teens to obtain a license is fifteen years old which allows them the privilege to drive in the state of Florida. There are many people who think the age limit to obtain a driver’s license should be raised while others differ in opinion. There are many factors that need to be taken into consideration when deciding the age to obtain a driver’s license. Although teens should be allowed to become independent individuals, it is necessary for Florida legislatures to raise the age minimum to eighteen because fifteen year olds are not legally responsible for themselves and they’re easily distracted. First of all, most teenagers have after school activities or maybe even work, so the independence a car affords him or her makes life easier for the parents.
Andrea Summers is a coordinator of the teen driving program for the Delaware Office of Highway Safety. Summers said “my state and others have chosen to toughen laws without raising the driving age - by banning teens from using cellphones while driving” (CBS). Other laws like imposing stricter driving curfews and expanding supervised driving time (CBS). “Around 6,000 teenage drivers are killed in car accidents each year” but most of them are untrained and unsupervised (Weaver). If those laws Summers talked about get passed they won’t have to raise the driving age and it will be
Although it is a law commonly evaded; it prevents young people from car accidents and alcohol abuse or dependence. In the article is acknowledged that “more than 40 percent of college students reported at least one symptom of alcohol abuse or dependence”; a rate that would be highly increased if the drinking age is reduced. On top of that, it is worth considering the magnitude in which car accidents have dropped since the drinking age was lowered. The organization Mother Against Drunk Driving (MADD) CEO Chuck Hurley said “Nearly all peer- reviewed studies looking at the change showed raising the driving age reduced drunk-driving deaths.” It is undeniable that lowering the drinking age would generate an already managed issue in regards alcohol and its relation to car
Driving at 16 allows parents to oversee young drivers before they are legally independent adults. Lawmakers may think by raising the minimum driving age that they can minimize accidents, but in actuality, they are depriving teens the chance to learn under adult supervision. If the driving age were raised to 18, kids would be out on their own and learning to drive on their own. At 16, teens are still covered by their parents ' insurance driving closer to home, which offers more support should they get in an accident. Before teens leave home, parents can be sure they have a solid driving history that they can be comfortable with while gaining valuable experience.
