Claire Woppmann 8th Grade Social Studies Satirical Letter Prince Shōtoku Taishi, Japan’s legendary regent from 593 to 622 CE – who was inspired by Buddha’s teachings, authored Japan’s seventeen-article constitution in 604 CE and established a centralized government during his reign – has sent a message from beyond the grave to American republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. We stumbled upon this letter while trying to contact some ancient spirits. Apparently, Prince Shōtoku decided that he met the qualifications for an “ancient spirit”. The bald spot on one of our coworkers may have confused him into thinking that he was delivering this to Donald Trump himself.
