Whether it is Gandhi or Abraham Lincoln, there will always be a hero amidst hard times. In Schindler’s List, Oskar Schindler proved himself to be a vainglorious man in the beginning but then later develops into a humanitarian who turns his factory into a refuge for his Jewish workers during the horrendous Nazi reign. German business man and opportunist Oskar Schindler starts a factory using Jewish slave labour in hopes of making a fortune out of the upcoming World War. However, as time goes on, Schindler is intensely affected by how his workers are treated by his Nazi comrades. Subsequently, he spends all his money earned from the business and risked his life to protect his workers and ends up saving over 1,100 Jews. I personally dislike …show more content…
The Nazis looked extremely tall and healthy while the Jews were only half as tall. I thought this was cool because the Jews were probably much tinier and frailer physically, but it can also be interpreted figuratively in that the Nazis were much more powerful and had complete control over the Jews, which is why they seemed a lot bigger; much like how God or kings are always made bigger than his subjects in paintings. Spielberg probably had an emotional time directing this film, as he is a Jew himself. I think he did an amazing job showing both how it was like to be a Nazi and a Jew during this time without any bias. Much care was put into this work and the way Spielberg handled such a sensitive topic was excellent. Though I would usually consider any movie over three hours too long, I did not want the movie end. I feel like the length of the movie itself holds some meaning, it tells us that the Holocaust did not happen within few months, but many years. Jewish people were being continuously murdered years and that’s not something audiences can understand fully from just watching a few hours of a movie, even if the movie is one of the longest they have ever sat
How could a person be so cruel to dozens of Jews and watch them die slowly? The Nazi soldiers had no mercy for the Jews even if they did nothing wrong to them. Lastly, the amount of suffering at Auschwitz and Buna was hard for me to read about. I couldn’t imagine how it felt to live in the conditions that the Jews had to live for years. Standing
The Holocaust took place during the years 1933 to 1945. It was an attempt to remove all of the Jews, and other smaller groups such as homosexuals and Jehovah's Witnesses, which lived in the country of Germany. The events that took place during the holocaust were lead by a German man named Adolf Hitler. Schindler's List is a film about the Holocaust from a man named Oskar Schindler's perspective as a leader of a concentration camp. The film displays the five stages of the Holocaust.
A wartime hero during the holocaust was a man named Raoul Wallenberg. Wallenberg helped save over an estimated 100,000 people from the Nazis by issuing fake passports and housing jews. This was a pure act of humanity and compassion. Raoul didn 't care if he would be punished or killed but instead made a selfless act to help another person. There were many cases just like this one
The Holocaust. A short, unimaginable period, of just over twelve years, where almost 6 million Jews were murdered by the German nazis. Overall, 17 million victims were killed and thousands were forced to work in inhumane conditions and live in concentration camps. Elie Wiesel, a victim of the Holocaust, having been deported at the age of 12, is one of the few survivors who lived to tell their story. He has written many books and given many speeches about his experience, but they all convey a similar message, that we as a population, cannot remain silent but to stand up for the indifferences and the horrendous events of this world.
Schindler 's Transformation Oskar Schindler, a greedy nazi who’d people not expect to ever do anything good had an amazing transformation in his life. He is smart and knows how to get his way. But when most people think rich people are greedy his transformation proves otherwise. Schindler changed in many ways throughout his story. He started out tricking people to make money but ended up saving many Jews and his actions touched the hearts of many people.
The Holocaust was many years full of torture to innocent people. Dehumanization, neglect and the ovens were not the right solution to Hitler's plan. The people who lived through these harsh years are scarred for life. Hope filled their minds while they all prayed to God to leave Auschwitz some day. The time went further and every day felt longer.
Schindler risks his life and gives up fortune to save hundreds, while Goth sends thousands to their death and even casually snipes Jewish prisoners one morning for sport. These events all display just how easily life can be saved, traded, or taken away, and illustrate the value of remembering how the Holocaust happened. The film encompasses the idea that life only has as much value as those in control deem it to be. Through this focus on the fragility of life, the film acts as a reminder of what happens when good people stand idle in the wake
The Book is Always Better than the Movie The Holocaust was a genocide that occurred almost one hundred years ago. As the number of survivors dwindles, it’s become more necessary than ever to remember. Books, documentaries, and other forms of media are one of the best ways to preserve history.
Without the fear of being afraid of the camp at first arrival or the fear of the Jew not eating because they know they will be killed, there wouldn’t be much hope. This proves the point on why fear overpowers people and make them not do what they would normally due since there life is at risk. This truly shows the bad of the holocaust. Due to all the fear no one could stand up to
The Learning of The Holocaust The book Night by, Wiesel represented the holocaust. The book was a great way of expressing facts but it was hard for me to really see it. I think that the movie, The Boy In The Striped Pajamas explained the holocaust much more efficiently, and had a better understanding of emotion and gave the watcher a better visual for better comprehension.
As he experiences multiple harsh moments, Schindler becomes a decent, unselfish, and a positive manipulating man. Schindler once said, “War brings out the worst in people.”, but he proves his own statement wrong by himself becoming a better man. As Steven Spielberg directs Schindler’s List, he profusely provides us with great details of how Oskar Schindler’s character has
The Holocaust was a horrible event in history that will scar humanity forever. With the events of the Holocaust being experienced by millions there are many different perspectives of said events. One such perspective is presented in Night, a memoir written by Elie Wiesel about his experiences as a young Jewish boy during the Holocaust. Another perspective is presented in Schindler’s List, a film directed by Steven Spielberg (based on the novel Schindler’s Ark by Thomas Keneally) about Oskar Schindler, a gentile who saves over one thousand Jewish lives during the Holocaust. Both pieces show heart wrenching stories of the abuse of a group of people in different ways, each using different mediums to convey their points.
They burned, beat, and gassed the Jews because they were too week to work. The Jews were too weak to work because they were not fed or hydrated the way they needed to be. The Germans did not see them as humans. However, my German ancestors may have portrayed themselves and how they may have squashed their names from being heroes I still take pride in my ancestral homeland.
The Nazi’s did not leave a single person alive and showed no mercy. The Nazi’s killed the innocent Jews, because they believed they were right and did not feel guilty. Even though they did not like killing at times; on that night Goethe says how he “wishes this night would be over,” they still killed because it was right in the eyes of their society. This killing of innocent people, due to the fact that society believes they are evil, shows that the Nazi’s in the movie are ethical
The horrendous acts committed during World War II still haunt people today. A lot of people did not realize the extent of the brutality that took place in concentration camps across the country until this film was released. The entire film is filled with 195 minutes of pure gut ranching brutal acts committed by Nazi armed men. The entire film is filled with true acts of violence showing the entire process of when a Jewish member of the community
