This is an essay that will focus on the school-aged child. The school-aged child is defined as the children age from six to twelve years old. In this age group, a child will start to go to school for learning and start to develop gradually in different aspects such as physical, cognitive, psychosocial and moral. The client who participated in this assessment was called Muhammad Ruzaini (M.R). The discussion in this essay will be mainly about the development of M.R in different aspects as a school-aged child. Besides that, community resources available to M.R to maintain and promote his health will also discuss. M.R is currently eleven years old and he is the only child in the family. His father works as a warehouse supervisor and his mother is a nurse. Both parents are healthy, do not have any other diseases as well as M.R. There was no health issue for M.R during his pregnancy. He speaks English at home and in the school. He currently studies in Woodlands Primary School as primary five. He has two best friends and they …show more content…

There are four stages and M.R is in the third stage which is called concrete operational. According to Rathus (2008), in the stage of concrete operations, the children age between six to twelve years old have developed the ability to think as an adults. They have better understanding of cause and effect. M.R is able to perform concrete more logical thought processes and reasoning for familiar situations. For example, if M.R is not feeling well in school, he will call his father rather than seeking help from school nurse. Besides that, M.R is able to differentiate relationship between family, friends, and teachers. Overall M.R does not have cognitive developmental delay as he understand the concepts of reversibility, conservation, seriation, and classification.
