According to Dan Olweus (1986), a world-leading expert in studying school bullying problem, stated “A student is being bullied or victimized when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more other students”. Based on this theory, we can state Cheung was a bully.

From the account in Cheung’s own words in the video (2012), it is observed that Cheung is intelligence, presentable and outgoing, which contains a number of leadership qualities. However, he lost himself in his dark childhood. Cheung had been received verbal, physical or emotional attacks or abuses from parents and relatives. He didn’t do anything wrong but he seemed being abandoned by his family in a sudden. To maintain the self-value and self-esteem, Cheung strongly needed the external supports from friends at that stage. To show off his ability, Cheung chose an extreme way to re-build his confidence- to lead his team to bully those who were weaker than him. He turned to bullying by mimic this distorted way of self-nurture. By feeding on the pain on others, Cheung is trying to make himself whole and to heal.

Colorso (2003) stated bullying is not about conflict or anger to be resolved. There is nothing did wrong from the victim to Cheung, but that’s just about the contempt held by the bully for the bullied …show more content…

While the bully continues to hurt the others, the bullied continues to suffer and does not able to handle the problem, the more, the peers do not dare to report because no one wants to be the next victim (Wong, 2003). If this vicious cycle cannot be broken in school in time, the culture of bullying will at a high risk to sustain or even spread.
