I was talking to my Granny, Joan Nolan who is eighty one years old.I asked her about her school days.
As i showed granny my new dimmer switch in my bedroom it took her back to a time when she used candle light to do her homework.
"I remember when i was in school and when i used to get my homework i would have to use candle light if i did my homework to late in the evening so i could see what i was doing. i got a lot of homwork so it would take a while so most evening after school i would have to use candle light, we had to use candles for light as there was no electricity when i was going to school."
How long were you in school for?

I drove the Buick to school. Papa and Mama drove the old DeSoto since Mr. Donovan, a rancher, gave my parents the car for exchange of them working for Mr. Donovan. I was happy I drove the new Buick because now I felt like I bought a new, expensive car popular kids had
At the time, I was too young to be enrolled in pre-school, so while my mom was working and my sister was at elementary school, my mother would drop me off there. During the long days that we spent together, one of the literacy events that I can recall is when we would play "school.” She would be the teacher and I would be the student. Together, we would set up a
Mrs. Coles did not tell me much about her siblings. She is one of six children, four girls and two boys. At the time it was normal to have multiple children, but people now have around two or three (on average). My parents for example had three kids. She said that they did not fight a lot as children.
Well...I was 6 when Child Protective Services came to get us. I lived with my mom and my three sisters, the youngest was Donna she was 5 & Lizzy was 7 and Mary was 10. I remember most of my family lived in the same neighborhood like my two Aunts and my uncle and grandpa and grandma. There was an occasional gunshot, sometimes there was a fire truck rushing down our street . We lived on top of a hill at 1015 Norwich in Grand Rapids.
We reached the last bus my stomach was hurting it was a hour bus ride I was nervous because what if my real parents were mean and didn 't want us. We got off the last bus and it was 6:00pm we had to walk a 20 minute walk. I stalled a little bit because I was very nervous. Jerry was nervous too
Janet Arlene Stroup, at the age of 79, has quite a few stories about her days in school, and lucky for me, she was happy to share them. Janet attended Evendale Grade School from first grade to eighth grade. Every morning she walked two miles to school with her five younger siblings. At the beginning of the day, someone would ring the bell on top of the school and the children had to begin coming in from playing outside. If they weren’t in their seats by the second bell, they were marked tardy.
So it was about 9.00 in the morning and I had to go to my school to reherse our routine. After that we were loading up to get on the bus. Once I got on the bus i got to sit with my friend Emily. The bus ride took 45 minutes to get to the high school.
I was still in Bookman Road Elementary school my 4th grade year, I had the same teacher who taught me for my 3rd grade year Mrs. Tammie Hunter and had the same best friends. When I ended my 4th grade year at Bookman Road I was told I’m going to a different school; being young I was very confused but when the new school year started I then realized what my mother meant by a different school. That morning when school was starting I was excited, I’m going to my favorite school around my friends I felt like my 5th grade year was going to be the best year but that didn’t happen. When I was going to get ready I noticed a blue collared shirt and a plaid skirt, I was thinking to myself Bookman never had clothing like this it was a public school we
Everyone has felt like an outsider. In All Summer in a day, Ray Bradbury uses uses description to fully describe the sun, and what happens when the kids go out and play. Margot had moved from Earth to Venus, and she longs for the sun. The author uses vivid flashbacks to show this. Description is a big part of this short story because it helps show sun in their lives.even though they don't remember the sun, they always write poems about it.
When I was in elementary school, the thought of going to middle school had excited me, but little did I know that with a lot of excitement and happiness came pain and anguish. Being very young, I had never had any experiences with bullying or even depression, but throughout my three years, I had experienced both. When I left elementary school, I had the mindset that no matter how rude someone was towards you, you have to suck it up and still stay true to yourself. No matter what happened do not ever stoop down to their level and do not ever change who you are. I was eleven years old when I entered sixth grade at Lawrence Middle School.
In the duration of my middle school years, I maintained excellent grades, except I had just one issue that held me back from a satisfying life. That issue was the fact that friends came very hard to me in my middle school years. Before my struggles at my middle school, Trafton, I had a very productive social life in the Elementary school I attended, Roberts Elementary. Here, it was very easy to make friends and have a great social life, since no hard work was required as a kid. Middle school, however, was a great challenge for me.
The first day of middle school for me was both terrifying and exciting. I made a lot of new friends within the year. I remember the first day very well. I had woke up at 5;30 a.m. I was extremely tired.
Personal Narrative Essay Believe it or not, sometimes a gracious action can bring a huge influence on a person. When I read the introduction that instructor Heller wrote, there is a sentence she wrote: “Sometimes the most influential moments in our lives are smaller moments, events that we may not recognize as influential until years after the experience.” For some reason, I related to it strongly. My story is about my high school experience. Also, I will share some significant moments in my life, and how these smaller moments changed my personality.
Three years was the longest I have attended any one school and that was primary school. Gender inequality was something I have always witness in the school system. Even as a child one can tell the difference between being valued as a student and not being valued. The boys were thought to be better at math. During my time in first and second grade in primary school I struggled with math.
I remember looking to the left and right of me everyone seemed to be enjoying the first day of school. Everyone including myself showing off our clean new outfits we had bought during back to school sales. Eagerly waiting for the bell to ring; I remember walking around trying to find something to do as I wait impatiently for school to start. Trying to find something I can go and chill I walk over to the school gym, taking a look around me I see our school colors, which are black and yellow. Almost forgot the name of my high school is Adrian Wilcox High, home of the thunder if I remember correctly or lightning one of the two but I digress.
