As I understand ideology is a system of values, believes, and attitudes. Ideology belongs to the social groups. It helps us to make sense of reality, and feel the world around and understand how it should be. First who gave definition of Ideology are Marks and Engels. They claimed that ideology always kept by the power of elites. They suppose that dominant values belong to those who have power. Louis Althusser says that there are two ways to make people do what they want the Repressive state apparatuses it can be a police an army or if we talk about the school is a principals who order you what to do. The second is the Ideological State Apparatuses this is the way that society get the things to do the way they want, forming or shaping the way they …show more content…
The concept "school culture" of pedagogical management is defined most often as set of norms, values, traditions, customs, rituals, the rules regulating activity and relationship of members of school collective and defining tenor of life in educational institution. (Potashnik & Moiseyev, 1997). According to V.P. Simonov, the organizational culture of school is the system of valuable orientations accepted by members of this organization which serves them as a reference point in their thoughts, feelings, acts. When speak about organizational culture of school, mean that general psychological atmosphere which is created at school and in each its class. The famous researcher of problems of pedagogical management. As it was cited by Potashnik & Moiseyev Ushakov represented structure of culture of school in the form of-level model. The organizational culture of school, in his opinion, includes such elements, as: symbols of educational institution; heroes of school community; language of the organization; the shared belief among children and adults; professional and universal
As a result, the readers of the book benefited a lot from this book since it exposes the professionals who carried out the project as Dr. Patricia M. Greenfield, Ms. Blanca Quiroz, and many others were are notable in their work. Furthermore, it brings out the issue of schools demographics and contexts and, more importantly, help them apply the approach brought in the project on how to deal with classroom organization management. The fascinating thing about this book is the breakdown of the Bridging Culture Project, which assists a lot in understanding the issue of classroom management. Next time I happen to teach in a classroom, I will be very carefully about the class organization because this is the starting point of success in class and is very true to say that class management is all about creating a friendly environment for continuous learning to take place. I will rightly start by studying every student in my classroom and more specifically his or her culture then proceed to bridge the gap between the culture and the instruction that I give in
Obedience and Conformity "Without obedience to a relevant ruling authority there could not be a civil society" (Meyer 10). To have a successful nation or society, you need an authority or ruler. People don't always choose to obey or listen, but most do because they think that is what is best for them. When one chooses to go against their morals and what they believe it becomes that the government is taking advantage of them.
In Nancy Heitzeg article “Education or Incarnation: Zero Tolerance Polices And The School To Prison Pipeline” she argues that youth of color are especially at risk for being pushed out of the school system which pushes them onto the street and then into juvenile. Zero tolerance is severely punishing students for committing wrong doings no matter how big or minor they are. This is most certainly a race crime. I remember reading an article for my social work class that stated the United States has the highest incarceration rate. What is even more alarming is the fact the New York state builds future beds in Riker’s Island and in upstate prisons depending on how many African Americans are born today.
Schools, they are meant to help children learn right wrong, basic life skills, and how to become intelligent adults. Students start school around the age of three and stay in it for as long as they need; however, school are failing to turn students into intelligent working adults. Parents are told when their children are struggling and when they are succeeding, but are they really succeeding? Humans are strange creatures; we become upset about the strangest things, and labeling children is just as bad as eating their snack during snack time. When children hear that they are either good or bad they start to believe this.
The school board did violate the Establishment Clause by requiring their impressionable student council members to attend biased school-sponsored board meetings that begun with Christian prayer. The overarching rule of the Establishment Clause states that, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Marsh v. Chambers, 463 U.S. 783, 790, S.Ct. 330,77 L.Ed.2d 1019 (1983). This clause intends to keep the church and the state separate of each other.
The state uses biological technology and psychological conditioning to make sure that each citizen is not only suited to its job and role, but to actually prefer the role of anything else, and therefore doesn't want anything
so it would be against the values to impose state’s will on policies disregarding the importance of it ’s people’s
Ethos can be defined as the beliefs, standards or ideals that designate or permeate a group of people, a society. It is the spirit which motivates the customs, ideas and practices of people (Munn, 2002). School ethos comprises of morals, values, beliefs, culture, aims, goals and environment of the school. “Halstead observes that all the elements of ethos are rich in their potential to influence the developing values, attitudes and personal qualities of children and young people (Halstead, 2000).” School ethos is a network of interconnecting factors, including school policies and procedures, attitudes of the teacher, cultural values and the social and physical environments (Alba).
Because of the ever-evolving world, leadership styles have also changed. Transformational is still a strong style, but added to this is a new genre of leadership including esthetic, ethical and spiritual. These are targeted towards morals and values and can be used in effort to inspire followers to be actively engaged in the company and go beyond the needs of their employment. Theorist argue that “these contemporary theories fill gaps in the leadership literature by expanding into areas of emotions, inspiration, and morality.” (Spector, 2014) We can expect for the qualities that define a strong, positive leader to continue evolving.
An example of this is their motto "Community, Identity, Stability" (Huxley, 1). The foundation of every human pertaining to the World State views this as their way of life. It is a base to their principles and are highly valued, thus making this glittering generalities. This motto is strictly followed and because of conditioned, people are automatically responsive to it. This simple and straight forward motto allows the World State to manipulate their societies.
The Expression of Religion in Public Schools Today Students and teachers have tip toed over the subject of religion in public schools for many years now. Many students don’t understand why they feel as if they cannot fully express their religious values in public schools, when in fact freedom of religion is a civil right to all citizens. In addition, some students who attend public schools want to get the chance to learn about religious ideals, history, and concepts. The expression of religion in public schools has changed over the years from being specifically used to teach religion to not allowing teachers to speak and making students uncomfortable about their own religious beliefs, a change that is not best for the students.
Albert Einstein once said, "Everybody is a genius... But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid". Unfortunately, most school systems depict this quote. They judge a significant amount of the population by their ability to answer a few questions. They rate them with letters and numbers, and force students to be represented by these letters and numbers for the rest of their lives.
Chloe I found your paragraph on hegemony and the achievement ideology really interesting. While I find your point on the achievement ideology fascinating, according to the class article by Lull (1995), in order to conform to these “norms” people must believe they’ve agreed to them and that these actions are in their best interest. According to Lull, even if these rule and ideas aren’t their own, people still willing agree to them because they think conforming to these practices will bring them success (Lull, 1997). That is why hegemonic power works so well. People believe by following these rules that are shared by a community, they can still attain their own form of achievement.
Why the school system is bad - Arshia Education is very important for everyone and it will only get more important. Schooling is just plain bad. It used to serve a purpose, like the heart in a person 's body, but now it is basically just boring students more and more. Nowadays at the end of the day, we all just want to go home.
In conclusion, Culture is not an effortlessly characterized idea, but commonly it is the standards, politics, and norms spoken in work practices and behavior. An association 's culture is not a spoken list of values originate in a wisely worded declaration or obtainable as a cross-reference in an annual report. Or maybe, the association itself makes culture. How representatives treat and collaborate with each other and the estimations of the workers and the association, for example, hard working attitude, show an association 's way of life.
