Would you want a student going to class half asleep? Lots of kids don't do well in school because they are not very well rested, and starting school later in the day could prevent that from happening. Health could be at risk if kids went to school too early because they wouldn’t have enough time to sleep which would most likely disturb their immune system. If schools started later, than more kids would show up and they would be more attentive which would lead to better grades. I believe schools should start later in the day because it gives kids more time to sleep, helps adolescents perform academically better, and can improve a youth’s health.
The structure of the education system causes an individual to become stuck and unable to learn skills useful to their character. The boredom that results from the busy work pressed upon the kids, has caused for a one way mind set. Gatto states how the education system has embedded the notion in a child's mind that the only way to succeed is to achieve the perfect grade. The human mind is unable to accept this idea because it is natural to rebel and express individuality. Which cannot be proclaimed through the design of the education system that forces unnecessary busy work on young minds.
In Conclusion, schools should start later than they usually do. It would be very beneficial for high schoolers for many reasons. A couple of those reasons are for grades, attendance, and sleep. “School timings not only affect the sleeping habits, but also the daily functioning of the body (Early)”. Not only the amount of sleep we get isn’t good, it’s bad for our body and the worse our body gets, the less we focus and the less energy we have.
Yes, school is going to cause stress to students and they are going to be in competition with other students to be the top of the class. However, the heaping amounts of work and struggle to be the best they can be is all a part of the experience. Everyone has to go through school. Hard work is required and the students need to be challenged to build stronger character. Also, it helps people prepare for maintaining a job and dealing with bosses and colleagues.
A child is struggling to learn at his/ school. He is more of a visual learner, like learning with pictures and shapes in front of him. His school, however, does not have the power and funding to do such things for him, which leaves him struggling and get bad grades. Now, why does he have to struggle in a school system which can’t even support his learning style? School choice is the idea that parents should be able to choose which school they want to send their children to, whether they enroll them to private, charter, parochial or virtual schools, or just decide to homeschool them.
This feeling of lack of freedom comes from tons of work to do and also from feeling that the work they complete is not amusing or interesting. This aspect is a massive problem for everyone! If students are unable to enjoy learning, what will become of our future? In the United States, the goal of the public education system is supposed to prepare students for college, citizenship, and future workplaces. As well as teaching them how to become critical thinkers and teach them the accommodations for future workplaces.
So why is it that the United states school system is failing to produce individuals who cannot solve problems or compete in the economy we have? The United States spends more money on secondary education per student than many other nations, yet we are still the ones lagging behind in the basics of mathematics, reading, and writing. This is what calls for an education reform. Initially the issue with education came to the public and political awareness back in the 20th century when the views on education were seen as a need so we can develop a thriving industry and global competitiveness. Since then the United States have spent large amounts of money, thus developing a budget for education.
This is school isn’t it? Some students find that school is a burden, but have any of them thought that school may not be a bad thing nor may not be a burden after all? This is a school system that kids have to go through, but ironically a system most kids take for granted. Education is important and valued highly in society today. Also, education is necessary to be successful in life.
Students will have better academic performances and they will think more than they usually. Obviously, schools should start early because students are more attentive, better memory, better mood, and an enhancement in executive
Often times I ask myself why I even come to school? Does our education system actually help us learn, or is it mere memorization of facts. I’ve come to this realization where “not-so-hard-working” students can obtain greater rewards than students who are more diligent. Most papers today are not original. With many open sources such as SparkNotes, Wikipedia, and Google, hardly anything that students create requires much effort.
