In order to show my learning growth as an individual capable to lead a school, I need to take the many advantages that offer every single of my field experiences. For example, I have to show not only my understanding of the standards and each of their domains, but also how I am able to use the field experience as a portal or a living opportunity to help me attain the actions and mentality of a leader. In order to do that, I need to focus on each standard to enable it to guide me through my actions, words and daily routines. The following are the standards that need to be taken in consideration in order to embrace a better leader within me.

In order to be better leaders we need to reflect on many scenarios, on the lessons delivered, on how are they delivered, on the resources used and on the classroom atmosphere as well. All the pieces are needed in order to create better learning opportunities for all learners. A great administrator not only observes classrooms or just do a walkthrough but indeed takes that opportunity to learn and to teach others how to refocus on what is needed. By doing walkthroughs as well as talking to teachers and finding out the ways resources are used, administrators are creating an opportunity for all teachers to reflect on their used of resources as well as their teaching. Also, it is important that the administrator walks into classroom to observe how is the learning atmosphere and how different learning opportunities are taking place within the school, this way, the administrator will learn about different techniques and how to magnify those best teaching strategies through embedded workshops. Nothing better than learning from each other, teachers will feel appreciated and valued as well as just by doing this the whole school community will get enrich by the new learning opportunity given to all staff
The second domain in the Florida Principals Leadership Standards is composed of three different standards. The first of these is Instructional Plan Implementation and is about how an effective leader must collaborate to develop and implement an effective instructional framework that aligns with the required standards and meets his/her students’ needs (“The Florida Principal,” n.d.). Due to the variety in options that are available to align instruction to a pupil, given that the instruction will be adjusted to his/her needs, I feel that the situational leadership approach will be able to be implemented in this situation to create better results as “different situations demand different kinds of leadership (Northouse, P., 2016). The different leadership styles that make up the Situational approach can be tied to this standard by connecting the necessary leadership style with the supportive and directive behaviors in the task that is performed. As an instructor, I will spend time in the S1 category of the Situational Leadership Model as I make use of a “common language of instruction”, spend time between the S1 and S2 categories by “communicate the relationships among academic standards” and by being engaged “in data analysis for instructional planning and improvement”.
When reading and listening to lectures I was struck by the information presented in part two of the Jossey-Bass Reader on Educational Leadership: Moral Leadership. I believe this stemmed from three key ideas: trust, relationships, and business. To begin, I was extremely interested in the emphasis on trust and how trust is the glue that holds together a school. When reading I found myself nodding along at how important trust is to an organization especially a school that functions mostly on communication.
This gives opportunities for discussion, reflection and a chance to understand develop empathy for each other. ‘The ultimate objective is to enhance children’s ability to become socially and emotionally competent individuals who succeed in school’. http://incredibleyears.com/team-view/carolyn-webster-stratton/ To give a practical example of one of the key initiatives is to praise good behaviour not matter how small and ignore unacceptable behaviour so long as no harm will come to others. This strategy should always be the starting point of your classroom management. The majority of children will respond to this positive reinforcement and quickly understand how to gain phrase for doing the right thing.
Emerging while also regarding someone else’s views and culture is the first step into becoming a leader both in and outside of the classroom, by demonstrating these qualities I will be a great asset to my host community.
Upon beginning my first class at Walden University, it has been difficult to see myself getting through this 8-week course. Furthering my education has been something I have struggled to accomplish for the last 4 years. I almost decided to give up and continue being just a high school teacher. However, being a senior teacher that motivates my students to go above an beyond to reach their goal has pushed me to work hard and start a new journey. Though it is only the beginning of my journey, I can see graduation.
True transformative administrative leadership extends beyond understanding their students to comprehending the community their students live within. Years ago, schools functioned to provide students with knowledge, however, the objectives of schools evolved within the last twenty five years. As numerous low income communities crumble due to societal pressures the purpose of a school transformed from a place of education to one that comprises of education, health-care, nutrition, shelter, mental health, and safety. Society ask schools to accommodate the ever growing lists of student needs. Schools can’t create a legacy of transformational change without community involvement.
I have been involved with FFA all four years of high school. I was the chapter historian my sophomore year. I have competed in many agriculture-related competitions: opening and closing ceremonies, agriscience fair, and soil and land judging. In opening and closing ceremonies, I learned how to conduct a proper FFA meeting. When I competed in the state agriscience fair, I studied the effect of different grass seeds on food plots.
When I raised my hand, and took my oath of service I had no idea of the journey Leadership Philosophy that laid ahead of me. Joining late in life was one transition, but the transition into the Non-Commission Officer (NCO) Corps, and a leader has been a very rewarding experience. The values that were instilled in me as a child and those that have been drilled into my make-up as an NCO are very similar. The tenants of the seven Army Values have been what I have lived by most of my life and career, however there are four out of the seven values that I hold most valuable and live out on a day to day basis.

Foster sympathy and forgiveness when as individuals we frequently miss the mark concerning our high beliefs. Running Head: FIELD EXPERIENCE JOURNAL Field Experience Journal Mary Ellen Masters Georgia Highlands College FIELD EXPERIENCE JOURNAL Field Experience Journal In order to gain vital experience in the teaching field, I volunteered to work at West Rome Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School. Although this setting was not in a school, the characteristics and guidelines were the same. The kids were assigned groups based on gender and grade level.
It brings me joy to see my students every week and interact with them. It 's also satisfying to see how everyone has grown and developed over the year with their academic and interpersonal skills. So, What?
In fact, leadership is an art rather than a science. The process of learning leadership is a hand-on experience, which focuses on practice instead of concepts itself. This course provides me a chance to gain more insight about leadership and it helps me develop my new image of leadership. Meanwhile, I also use the theories in our textbook as a framework for self-assessment of my leadership skills and try to develop my own leadership style during the
I participated in several school meetings. After working with students in small groups, I evaluated my mini lesson for student improvement.
