In Scott Russell Sanders’s essay, “The Most Human Art: Ten Reasons Why We’ll Always Need A Good Story,” indicates that stories “educate our desires.” this power is shown multiple times in Christopher Paolini’s Eragon, where the bond between Eragon and his dragon Saphira, educate people how strong friendship can do to people’s lives.

The theme of friendship is shown in many sections of the book but there are many sections that is very significant to readers to understand the bond between the 2 characters and how helpful it can be to someone. It was as if an unbreakable pact were being sealed. He started at the dragon and a cold tingle ran down his arm. (Palini, 5.40)

Another moment in the book between Eragon and Saphira that shows how strong the power of friendship is after Eragon, Brom and Saphira escaped from Ra’Zac’s grasps. After being saved by a mysterious young man by the name of Murtaugh, Brom who was injured the most would most likely bleed to death but Eragon put a spell on him with the help of Saphira to heal him but only the surface, As her mind joined his, new strength infused his body. Saphira nodded. Together we can cast spells that are beyond either of us. (Palini, 36.23, 25). Eragon and Saphira make a great team, enhancing each other 's abilities. Eragon 's magic gains strength from having Saphira near. Even without magic, that makes sense. If everyone in the world had a strong friendship bond like Eragon and Saphira, everyone would basically have a power that no evil could ever stop.
