There were so many different pieces of art that I could have chosen that interest me. The thing is I went with one that meant a lot to me. The one piece of art work that I choose was a sculpture of Ray Lewis at M&T Bank Stadium which is home of the Baltimore Ravens. This piece of art is free to the public to see and touch whenever they are around it. This piece of art was chosen by me because I am a diehard ravens fan and Ray Lewis was a huge leader on the team that I looked up to. Therefore, I will be looking at this piece of art work with the four step process. This sculpture is one of my favorite all time that I was able to be there when it was reviled to the public. The sculpture of Ray Lewis has a lot detail in it. The sculpture is of Ray Lewis during his most famous dance that he did coming out the tunnel at every home game. I have seen Ray Lewis do this many times since I have been to a lot Ravens game while Ray Lewis was playing. The sculpture is there to show in detail of Ray Lewis doing his last dance that was very famous during all home games as I said above. It has Lewis picking his right foot up in the air as he is looking up in the air and screaming. He is also holding …show more content…
The statue of Ray Lewis is there to show how much he has meant to the Ravens organization over all of the years that he has played for them. He even means a lot to me as a Ravens fan. It also very historic because it is showing Ray Lewis do his last dance which he did in his last home game of season to end his career with the Ravens. This dance was the famous dance that he did at every home game to start off the game. He was a leader that got everyone hype up and ready to play football. That is the reason they put his statue up. Also, he was one the ravens first draft picks since the Ravens started in 1996 which is the year I was
On Friday, October 2nd, I visited the Wittliff art collection at Texas State University. I was very excited at how much art I was going to see as I made my way to the 7th floor of the Alkek Library, which is where the Wittliff art collection is located in. Sadly, with all of the artwork that was displayed, I was having trouble deciding on which art pieces to write this critique on. However, two certain 2-D pieces caught my eye. Out of all of the displays in the art collection, I ended up choosing Keith Carter’s photograph and Kate Breakey’s painted photograph.
The monuments display grandeur through their great beauty and intricate details, which is what intrigues passersby from stopping and admiring these aspects. Even though they are different in scale, both of the monuments display a sense of monumentality that plays a part in catching the attention of viewers. The meanings behind the monuments is how they show permanence; the reason why each monument was built will be permanent in their history because their respective histories represent not only the history of Florida State University, but also how far the university has evolved since its former years. The historical meaning behind the Integration Statue and Legacy Fountain make them both intentional statues. The Integration Statue was created to display the steps that Florida State has made to integrating African American students into the school, and the three African American students who made milestones at the University.
He was also a first round draft pick. Even though he played seven years in the NFL Patrick is still one of the best linebackers to play this game of football. He will be a future hall of fame linebacker has
Since it’s Black History Month, I want to take the time to highlight the strides Brown took to personally end gang violence in the 1980’s. In 1988, NFL Hall of Fame recipient Jim Brown founded the non-profit organization “Amer-I-Can.” The program influences individuals to meet their academic potential and to not conform to negative environment standards. The program also provide training and education for incarcerated women, that entails a 60-hour curriculum combined with life management/self-improvement programs, Former running back Jim Brown, notably the best player to put on a Browns jersey, is receiving great honors in form of a statue. The statue will be raised at FirstEnergy Stadium and its simply awesome that Brown will able to see
Throughout this semester as a class we have gone over many different terminology, seen many artists from all different countries and time periods. We have also learned about different kinds of art and media that the Artist work with. Over the entire semester I have gained a greater appreciation and understanding for art. Taking all of the new information that I learned this semester I choose three pieces of artwork from the St. Louis Art Museum. Two are similar to each other and the other is very different.
Bridget Mullen is an amazing and innovative artist. She did an artist talk at the University of North Georgia (UNG) on August 27th at 2pm. The presentation of her art was held at the Gainesville Campus Art Gallery in the Performing Arts building. Recently I also saw Hsiu-Ching Yu at the University of North Georgia at the Gainesville Campus. She was there doing an Art Talk on October 1, 2015 and she had an art gallery set up as well.
The Lincoln Memorial, the Statue of Liberty, the Washington Monument: These are just mere few examples of very well-known monuments and memorials across America. People have seen monuments, people have heard of monuments, people have even travelled extensive ways to just get one or two pictures of monuments. Monuments are immensely symbolic creations that are greatly cherished here in America. Conversely, people never consider the process in which groups/agencies go through in order to create one. There are very critical factors that go into creating a monument, and each of those factors represents something far deeper than one may originally think.
These monuments are an important symbol of American history and should be kept in a historical museum. When the statue of Robert E. Lee was built in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1844 the percentage of white population increased from 37 percent to 66 percent. This information shows that people moved

this new law that was put into play. They mentally examined some of the new free slaves and figured out that the two main things that they needed improvement on were education and independence. Due to the fact that the white people really didn’t want educated slaves, but just pure obedient workers, made the slaves fall behind on education. The reason I think they said independence is because due to having a boss or plantation owner running the show and telling the slaves what to do for so long, I believe that some of the slaves lost their way of independence and got so accustom to taking orders from a higher authority.
The mostly represents that they stand out more. Both kings look upright and with a strong character and personality. From looking at the statue he seems very powerful, respected and obeyed by others. From what I read in the wall text he had a lot of followers that looked up to him and advised him when he needed it.
The statue is highlighted as everyone in the piece leans back with their line of sight directly viewing the statue. Douglas delightfully illustrates movement through both angular lines and circles. I will be able to use this source to display representation and meaning through this piece. This source is reliable as it is published through the website Blog Spot and provides a creative, knowledgeable insight to the
Martin Luther King Monument Located in the West Potomac Park bordering the Tidal Basin, stands the first African American civil rights activist to be memorialized in Washington D.C., the Martin Luther King Jr Monument. This monument commemorates the four themes that Dr. King lived through in his life which include: democracy, justice, commitment, hope and love. The 30-foot tall statue was created and sculpted by a Chinese artist named Lei Yixin. His work was inspired by Dr. Kings’ “I Have a Dream” speech and included “A Stone
Sterns use of these sculptures was purely for display and aesthetic purposes, both in her home and in her works. The purpose and meaning of these statues completely change when they are put on display and ironically, their value decreases. This is a perfect example of how once an object is removed from its context and used for appropriation, the meaning is layered and distorted. CONCLUSION
