Organizational Background:
Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd is a manufacture company of parts and accessories for motor vehicles. The Company is established from the partnership of Honda Motor Co. Ltd. Of Japan, DRB-HICOM Berhad and Oriental Holdings Berhad resulted in the birth of Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a company committed to offering the "Highest Customer Satisfaction in Malaysia". With head office located in Alor Gajah, Malacca, it solely manufatures and distributes Honda automobiles. In November 2000, DRB-HICOM is a local conglomerate and Oriental Holdings Berhad has signed a joint venture agreement with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. of Japan. The joint venture agreement was made to produce and distribute Honda, finished parts, accessories and components. The results of the joint venture have finally been cooperation to build a new organization named DRB-Oriental-Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd on 15 November 2001 in which DRB-HICOM gets 36% of the shares, Oriental Holdings has 15% and Honda Motor have a 49% stake. Subsequently, on June 12, 2001, DRB-Oriental Berhad signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tongue Sdn Bhd for the purchase of land totaling 80 acres in Malacca for the development of Honda. The plant will be built in the Park Panas, in Alor Gajah, Malacca.
