It was the perfect day to steal thing, it was the happiest time for Lily. Lily was an orphan girl, and she had dark brown hair, but not too straight hair. She always likes to wear long pants, and sweaters. Lily was a smart, curious, 16 year old girl. Anyway, it was the perfect day for her. As always, she went through the secret tunnel and went into the Baker Shop. She stole 6-hot-well-toasted bread. It was for her and for her five dogs. That was when she found out that under her secret tunnel, there was a secret entrance to some place. Lily really loved adventures, so she spread the news that there was a secret entrance to some place, so that somebody can join her adventure. But nobody wanted to go with her because she always stole things …show more content…
For example, she went through a talking dragon (he was very grumpy), a giant (that has 100 eyes, seriously?!), A slimy old looking man (Lily remembered the old mystery man back at ‘The Orphs’), and many more. The last task of the adventure was challenging, it was to go through a simple door, but it wasn`t just a simple door, it was a magic door. The door was under a spell of magic. And the only way to open the door is to say the password, but nobody knew the password of the door. Only if I knew the password, then there will be a secret and safe place for all the orphans! Thought Lily, but she didn`t know that she was talking out loud! Also, she didn`t know that the last word of the sentence was the password! Orphans! Before she knew what’s going on, the magic door opened, and the fresh air came out filling the whole room. It was the most magnificent moment she ever felt in her whole life. Then everybody went in to the special …show more content…
He was the old man Lily met from ‘The Orphs’! “Welcome! My friends, this is our new place!” He spoke “And also, young lady,” He whispered to Lily “My name is Orphane the Wizard”… “Why didn`t you just do magic and let us all be here in one poof? Mr. Orphane?” Lily spoke in a tired voice. “Because I wanted to test all of you, and you all pass the test!” Mr. Orphane exclaimed “Congratulation,
As the music began, she couldn’t keep the smile off of her face. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, she was actually part of a professional halftime performance. She performed the routine flawlessly and continued to feel the rush of performing live after the group had run off the field. She knew this was a moment she would always remember, the Saturday she spent at the Citrus
Yvonne Allen does not have any right to wear her headscarf in her licence photo due to the security issues it would create. She believes that her rights are being infringed upon, but doesn't realize that a licence is a privilege not a right. It is hard to argue this fact when it says literally nowhere in any law or precedent that any U.S. citizen has any right to a licence. Allen only uses two defenses one of which is how her faith is tested “in a way that was humiliating and demeaning”(8), a judge will never consider this as a good defense on why she should get her licence, because it is based on emotions not law. Her other defense was how Muslim women were allowed to wear their own headscarves in their driver's license photos, but this seems

Lily leaves the person who makes her life miserable, her father, and finds a new family full of goodness and love. Her desertion of the old life she had lets her have happiness. It is not too often that being rebellious and unlawful will lead to greater joy and a true family, but this novel illustrates the idea that there will be times when you must look at the big picture of life. In certain cases you will have to solve problems and follow your heart. You have to work at having a good life, and whatever is required to make that happen should be a

Lily feels that these words were directed to her and felt like a bad person for the mistake of killing her mother. In a newspaper written by The Newcastle Herald, a statement stands out to the resemblance of this book and what the author is trying to show. As it states, “Lily finds solace in the guidance of the senior sister August, who holds the key to her past and slowly the rhythm of a new life with its funniness and sweetness is born…” THis helps to support my statement that Lily’s happiness and funniness grows when meeting and spending time with these girls. This was just the thing the young girl needed because at the time, Lily was feeling deep guilt for her actions.

The grandmother manipulates her son into going to an old plantation that she visited when she was young. She does this by saying to the kids “There was a secret panel in this house, she said craftily, not telling the truth but wishing she were” (935). If there was a secret panel actually in the house that would be really cool, but there isn’t one. She says this so that the kids are interested. They whine and complain, begging their dad to go to the house.

As people age, they grow wiser, equipped with an archive of memories derived from the multitudinous experiences of their lives. In his novel, On Canaan’s Side, Sebastian Barry uses 89 year-old Lily Bere, a protagonist with such wisdom, to fully examine the complexity and variety of human experience. These memories often reveal a dichotomy between the positive and negative experiences in Lily’s life, as well as the irony of the novel’s title. A person’s life never consists solely of good or bad events, an idea that is evidenced by Lily’s memories of her life throughout the novel. There is great sorrow every times she loses a loved one, such as Tadge, Cassie, Joe, or Ed.
Lily believes she could discover more about her mother if she could find people that possibly knew her. To her surprise she saw the same picture as a label for jars of Black Madonna Honey. Lily and
